REBUILDING 2017-18 NEW YORK ISLANDERS

The New York Islanders are doing great right now but there was letting John Tavares walk for nothing was absolutely on the Islanders not Tavares.

Even though Tavares said he wanted to stay with the team, the Islanders should have made a smart business decision and that is to trade him at the deadline.

Since John Tavares was going to sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs anyways, the Islanders should trade him there at the deadline.

New York Islanders trade John Tavares to the Toronto Maple Leafs for William Nylander, James Van Riemsdyk, 1st round pick 2018. If John Tavares re-signs with the Maple Leafs, the Islanders get an additional 2020 1st round pick.

This big blockbuster trade sees the Toronto Maple Leafs land John Tavares, while the Islanders get William Nylander and James Van Riemdsyk a 2 future 1st round picks.

Without John Tavares, the Islanders finish with 7th worst record in the league.

Before the 2018 draft, the New York Islanders make a few trades:

New York Islanders trade James Van Riemsdyk to the to the New Jersey Devils for Will Butcher, Pat Maroon, 2nd round pick 2019.

The Devils get a top 6 winger in JVR while the Islanders get Will Butcher, a solid offensive defenseman and Pat Maroon, a good top 9 forward.

They also trade Josh Bailey, Nick Leddy to the Ottawa Senators for Mike Hoffman, 2nd round pick 2018, 2nd round pick 2019.

The Islanders get Mike Hoffman, a proven goal scorer and two 2nd round picks, while the Senators get Josh Bailey, a top 6 forward and Nick Leddy, a very good top 4 defenseman.

At the 2018 draft, the New York Islanders trade picks 25, 37, 48 to the Columbus Blue Jackets for picks 18, 49.

Changes in 2018 draft:

7-Quinn Hughes

12-Joel Farabee

18-(from CBJ) Liam Foudy

49-(from CBJ) Akil Thomas

134-Veini Vehvilainen

New York Islanders re-sign Patrick Maroon to a 1 yr deal worth 2.5 million per season.

There is no change in standings for the Islanders during the 2018-19 season; they finish with the exact same record.

Before the 2019 draft, the New York Islanders make two major trade:

New York Islanders trade Anders Lee to the Anaheim Ducks for Maxime Comtois, Troy Terry, 1st round pick 2020 in a sign and trade.

The Ducks get a 1st line LW to pair with Ryan Getzlaf, while the Islanders get Maxime Comtois and Troy Terry, two bright young players and a 1st round pick.

The Islanders also trade Mike Hoffman, Devon Toews to the Minnesota Wild for Jason Zucker, Charlie Coyle, Jonas Brodin.

The Wild add a top goal scorer in the league in Mike Hoffman and a very good defenseman in Devon Toews, while the Islanders add Jason Zucker and Charlie Coyle, two very good top 6 forwards and Jonas Brodin, a good top 4 defenseman.

Changes in 2019 draft:

23-Connor McMichael

37-Nils Hoglander

New York Islanders re-sign Robin Lehner to a 3 yr deal worth 5 million per season.

The Islanders let Jordan Eberle, Pat Maroon walk in free agency because Islanders are going through a semi-rebuild.

The New York Islanders have a much worst record in the 2019-20 season and have the 5th pick in the draft.

The New York islanders don't trade for JG Pageau because they already have great centers on the team.

Before the 2020 Draft, the New York Islanders trade Adam Pelech to the Montreal Canadiens for 2nd round pick 2020.

Changes in 2020 draft:

5-Marco Rossi

6-Jamie Drysdale

13-Dawson Mercer

New York Islanders buyout Cal Clutterbuck and Andrew Ladd, which frees up the cap space to sign some free agents.

New York Islanders re-sign Matt Barzal to a 8 yr deal worth 7.5 million per season

Ryan Pulock is re-signed to a 7 yr deal worth 5.5 million per season

Max Domi is re-signed to a 4 yr deal worth 4.5 million per season

New York Islanders sign Alex Pietrangelo in Free Agency to a 7 yr deal worth 8.75 million per season.

The New York Islanders make two trades before the 2020-21 season:

New York Islanders acquire Chandler Stephenson, Nick Cousins, Jimmy Schuldt, 1st round pick 2021 from Vegas Golden Knights for Jason Zucker.

The Islanders get some versitaile fourth line players in Stephenson and Cousins and a decent prospect in Jimmy Schuldt, while the Golden Knights get Jason Zucker to add to their already stacked roster. The Isles also get a 1st round pick in 2021.

Michael Dal Colle, Troy Terry are traded to the San Jose Sharks for 2nd round pick 2021, 3rd round pick 2021.

The Islanders get a couple of picks for Dal Colle and Terry, two players that didn't fit the Islanders.

2020-21 New York Islanders

M.Comtois-M.Barzal-W.Nylander

B.Nelson-C.McMichael-J.Farabee

A.Beauvillier-C.Coyle-L.Foudy

N.Cousins-C.Cizikas-C.Stephenson

Q.Hughes-A.Pietrangelo

J.Brodin-R.Pulock

W.Butcher-S.Mayfield

R.Lehner

I.Sorokin

Top Prospects:

F: M.Rossi, D.Mercer, N.Hoglander, A.Thomas

D: J.Drysdale, J.Schuldt

G: V.Vehviläinen

The New York Islanders are now a really stacked team and would also be set to be contenders for the next couple of years.

Fantasy Hockey Forwards to Trade For

Here is a list of Players who you should consider trading for in Fantasy Hockey. Tage Thompson Tage Thompson had very high expectations of him heading into this season but has been a massive disappointment to this point in the season with only 7 goals, 8 assists, 4 PPP, 60 SOG, and 99 FW. Thompson has been better after coming back from injury and you would think that he is going to eventually start putting points in bunches. Because of how bad Thompson's statline is this season. it would be a good idea to trade for him because you may not have to give up a lot in return.  Elias Lindholm Elias Lindholm is another player who has had a slow start to the season with only 7 goals, 10 assists, 3 PPP, 68 SOG, and 297 FW so far this season. Lindholm is definitely going to want to play better if he wants to increase his value for his next contract and also showcase himself for a trade at the deadline. If Lindholm gets dealt to a contending team, his fantasy value would drastically improve b

TIPS FOR DECIDING WHO TO KEEP FOR KEEPER/DYNASTY LEAGUES

Keeper fantasy leagues are a variation of traditional fantasy sports leagues where participants are allowed to keep a certain number of players from their previous season's roster onto their team for the upcoming season. The number of players that can be kept, as well as the specific rules regarding keeping players, vary from league to league and are typically determined by the league commissioner or by a set of agreed-upon rules among league members. In a keeper league, the kept players usually come with a cost, such as forfeiting a specific draft pick in the upcoming draft or having to pay a predetermined fee. This adds a strategic element to the game, as managers must decide which players to keep based on their performance, potential, and value relative to the cost of keeping them. Keeper leagues often provide a deeper level of engagement and strategy compared to standard fantasy leagues because managers need to consider long-term player development and roster management beyond

FANTASY HOCKEY WAIVER WIRE PLAYERS TO PICKUP

Here are some players you should pickup in Fantasy Hockey, sorted by position. Center Colton Sissons Colton Sissons is one of the best 4th line centers in the league, but in fantasy hockey, he could be even more valuable than he actually is in real life because of what he provides in the peripheral categories. So far this season Sissions has 5 goals, 1 PPP, 1 SHP, 12 PIM, 20 SOG, 89 FW, 15 hits, and 9 blocks. This is a terrific stat line and although you can't count on Sissons scoring a ton, he will fill out the FW, Hits, and blocks usually. Sissons is owned in 6% of fantasy leagues, snag him up while you can. Nick Bjugstad Nick Bjugstad is having an excellent year so far with the Arizona Coyotes, in fact he has played so well that he earned himself a promotion to play on the 2nd line along with Mattias Maccelli and Lawson Crouse. Bjugstad also gets time on Arizona's 2nd PP unit and 2nd PK unit. Bjugstad may not be a name who stands out to casuals, but his fantasy stat line is
