2024 Offseason Preview ft. Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings just missed out on the playoffs in the 2023-24 season, taking a major step forward from the previous season, and finished the season with a total of 91 points, good for a 41-32-9 record. Moving forward the Red Wings will continue to improve their team by building through the draft and adding free agents that Steve Yzerman feels will help the team in the future. Detroit has 8 draft picks in the 2024 NHL draft, this is who they should select 2024 NHL Draft: 16-Michael Brandsegg Nygard (RW) 47- Simon Zether (C) 80-Teddy Stinga (LW) 128-Alexis Bernier (D) 144-Elliott Groenewold (D) 176-Owen Allard (C) 208-Charlie Cerrato (LW) Though no big names jump out at you, this group of prospects is pretty solid and could play a vital role on the team a few years down the road. Adding Brandsegg Nygard, Simon Zether and Owen Allard are all two-way forwards capable of playing in all situations, Alexis Bernier and Elliott Groenewold are two solid defensemen with good upside, while ...

Why Chicago Blackhawks should trade Patrick Kane

With the Chicago Blackhawks seemingly in a state of rebuild, I think it makes sense for the Chicago Blackhawks to trade Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Here are some trades that would make sense for the two franchise stars. Patrick Kane Trade Destinations: New York Rangers Edmonton Oilers Buffalo Sabres   Patrick Kane Trade 1: NY Rangers get Patrick Kane CHI Blackhawks get Kappo Kakko/Vitaly Kravtsov, Nils Lundkvist, cond. '23 2nd round pick, cond. '25 3rd round pick.  If the Rangers make the second round of the playoffs, 2nd round pick becomes a 1st round pick.  If Patrick Kane re-signs with the Rangers, Chicago gets a 2025 3rd-round pick. This trade benefits both teams and the deal will reunite him alongside his former linemate Artermi Panarin. Patrick Kane Trade 2: EDM get Patrick Kane CHI Blackhawks get Jesse Puljujarvi, Tyson Barrie, 2024 1st round pick. Chicago retains 25% of Patrick Kane's Contract.  This trade is strictly a rental for Edmonton, while for Chi...

What's Wrong w/ Chicago Blackhawks

There's are a lot of off the ice controversy surrounding the Chicago Blackhawks, but I wanted to focus on the team on the ice. The 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks have gotten off to a terrible Start to the season, with a 3-9-2 record; only Arizona has a worse record. This bad start has caused the Blackhawks to fire head coach Jeremy Colliton, and Derek King was named the Interim coach. In this blog, I discuss what is wrong with Chicago Blackhawks and how to fix them. Major Issues w/ Chicago Blackhawks: 1. Offseason acquisitions haven't panned out 2. Defense is flat out bad 3. Dylan Strome's poor play 4. Lack of Depth Scoring The Chicago Blackhawks make a few major offseason moves to improve the team, including acquiring Seth Jones, Marc-Andre Fleury, and Tyler Johnson. They also went out and signed Jake McCabe, Jujhar Khaira, Erik Gustafsson in Free Agency.  The only move that is looking good so far is the Seth Jones move, he has 12 points in his first 14 games, while logging o...

How Chicago Blackhawks can become a Dynasty Again

The Chicago Blackhawks are a team that is stuck in no-mans-land; they aren't good enough to make the playoffs yet they aren't bad enough to be in the lottery. So the most logical thing the Blackhawks should do is to trade away their veteran players and rebuild for the future. At the trade deadline, the Chicago Blackhawks make one trade: Chicago Blackhawks trade Duncan Keith to the Boston Bruins for John Moore, 1st rd pick '21. The Bruins need a Left Defenseman to pair with Charlie McAvoy, and Duncan Keith is the perfect fit for this role. The Chicago Blackhawks miss the playoffs in the 2020-21 season and end up with the 8th pick in the draft. Chicago Blackhawks buyout Brent Seabrook; the buyout costs 833K until 2027. Chicago Blackhawks lose David Kampf to the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft. Before the 2021 draft, two trades are made: Chicago Blackhawks trade Jonathan Toews to the Minnesota Wild for Jordan Greenway, Alexander Khovanov, Calen Addison, 2021 1st round p...

What if Chicago Blackhawks trade Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane

The Chicago Blackhawks seem to be headed towards a full fledge rebuild but if they have Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews on the team, it may affect their chances of getting a top pick in the draft. The best thing Chicago can do is trade Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews so they can play for another Stanley cup and so the Blackhawks can full on tank. Chicago Blackhawks make two major trades involving their core players: Patrick Kane is traded to the Buffalo Sabres for Sam Reinhart, Rasmus Ristolainen, Casey Mittelstadt, 1st round pick 2022. The Buffalo Sabres get Patrick Kane, a superstar that can help bring the franchise to new heights, while the Chicago Blackhawks get Sam Reinhart, a top 6 forward, Rasmus Ristolainen, a top 4 defenseman, a top prospect in Casey Mittelstadt and a 1st round pick. The Blackhawks also trade Jonathan Toews to the New York Islanders for Brock Nelson, Josh Bailey, 1st round pick 2021. The New York Islanders get Jonathan Toews, one of the best leaders in th...

REDRAFTING 2007 NHL DRAFT

The 2007 Draft was loaded with talent with Patrick Kane going first overall to the Chicago Blackhawks but there were a ton of mistakes made after that selection. If the 2007 draft were to be redrafted, the landscape of the NHL would be very different.. *Check out previous redrafts on my blog before continuing with one* 1. Chicago Blackhawks-(RW) Patrick Kane Original pick: Patrick Kane Chicago Blackhawks still select Patrick Kane; he is already one of the 100 greatest players of all time and should be a hall of famer. Patrick Kane has put up over 1,000 points in less than 1,000 regular season games and has 123 points in 127 playoff games. Patrick Kane is a game changer and is threat to score or set up a teammate every time he is on the ice. 2. Philadelphia Flyers-(LW) Jamie Benn Original pick: James Van Riemsdyk James Van Riemsdyk had a great NHL career but he's not the difference maker that Jamie Benn would be for Philadelphia Flyers. Jamie Benn had 6 seasons w...
