WHAT IF FLORIDA PANTHERS RELOCATED

There have been rumors floating around for a while now that the Florida Panthers were going to be relocated to somewhere in Canada; if the Florida Panthers were to be relocated, they should be relocated to Quebec, because they still have a passionate hockey fanbase.

To prepare the Panthers for their move up north, they need to make the team look better on paper.

The Florida Panthers will be relocated to Quebec before the 2021-22 season; causing the divisions to get shuffled around again.

After relocating to Quebec, they are renamed the Quebec Nordiques and will join the North Division, along with all the other Canadian teams.

The Quebec Nordiques make the playoffs in the 2021-22 season, only to get eliminated in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Before the 2022 draft, the Nordiques make two trades:

Quebec Nordiques trade Alexander Wennberg, Brett Connolly to the New York Rangers for Vitaly Kravtsov, 3rd rd pick '22.

The Quebec Nordiques make it to the Conference finals in the 2022-23 season, but get elimited in 6 games.

Quebec Nordiques acquire Bowen Byram, Nazem Kadri from the Colorado Avalanche for Jonathan Huberdeau, Grigori Denisenko and a 1st round pick 2023.

The Nordiques get a franchise defenseman in Bowen Byram and a great 3rd line center in Nazem Kadri for Jonathan Huberdeau, a top prospect in Grigori Denisenko, and a 1st round pick.

HOW TO IMPROVE MONTREAL CANADIENS

HOW TO IMPROVE VANCOUVER CANUCKS

Even though the Vancouver Canucks should be a contending team this year, they can still improve their team to become a Stanley cup favorite. With that in mind, let's take a look at some of the moves the Vancouver Canucks could make to win a Stanley Cup.

The Vancouver Canucks trade Michael Ferland, Brogan Rafferty, Sven Baertschi to the Detroit Red Wings for 3rd rd pick '21, 4th rd pick '21.

The main purpose of this trade from Vancouver's perspective is to get rid of Michael Ferland and Sven Baertschi; from Detroit's point of view, this is low-risk trade, where they add some nice players for some draft picks.

After creating more than 5 million in cap space, the Vancouver Canucks add some players in Free Agency:

Derrick Brassard-1yr/2 million

Corey Perry-1yr/1 million

Madison Bowey-1yr/800k

The Vancouver Canucks finish the 2020-21 season as the second-best team in All-Canadian Division and the 4th best team in the Western Conference; the Canucks make it to the Western Conference finals only to lose to the Colorado Avalanche.

At the expansion draft, the Vancouver Canucks trade Loui Eriksson, Tanner Pearson, 1st round pick '21 to the Seattle Kraken for Zach Hyman, 3rd round pick '21.

This is an excellent trade for the Vancouver Canucks, who get rid of Loui Eriksson's contract; adding Pearson and a 1st round pick sweetens the deal significantly. Getting Zach Hyman, who the Seattle Kraken was looking to trade, and a 3rd round pick is a bonus.

Before the 2021 draft, Vancouver Cancuks trade Alex Edler to the Boston Bruins for a 1st round pick '21.

This is the perfect deal for both teams because the Bruins get a veteran top 4 LD, while the Cancuks a 1st round pick.

At the 2021 draft, the Vancouver Canucks trade picks 61, 67, 93 to the Ottawa Senators for pick 42.

2021 draft

21 (from BOS)-Corson Ceulemans

42 (from OTT)-Cameron Whynot

The Vancouver Canucks bolster their depth on defense in the system by adding Corson Ceulemans and Cameron Whynot, two great prospect defensemen.

Vancouver Canucks re-sign a few players:

Elias Pettersson-8yrs/8.5M per

Quinn Hughes-7yrs/7.5M per

Thatcher Demko-4yrs/4.5M per

Zach Hyman-4yrs/3.1M per

Adam Gaudette-2yrs/1.7M per

All RFAs are re-signed by the Vancouver Canucks.

In Free Agency, the Vancouver Canucks sign the following players:

James Reimer-4yrs/3.4m per

Due to the loss of Holtby, Edler, Brassard, and Perry, the Vancouver Canucks drop in the Standings; they miss the playoffs; they end up with the 13th pick in the draft.

Before the 2022 draft, Vancouver Canucks trade Tyler Myers to the Los Angeles Kings for Adrian Kempe, 2nd round pick '22.

The Kings add Tyler Myers, a top 4 defenseman that will really bolster their defense, while the Canucks get Adrian Kempe, a top 9 forward and a 2nd round pick.

At the 2022 draft, the Vancouver Canucks trade picks 13, 45 to the Chicago Blackhawks for pick 9.

2022 Draft

9-Simon Nemec

The Vancouver Canucks add a great shutdown defenseman to pair alongside Quinn Hughes on their top pair.

Vancouver Canucks re-sign a few players:

Brock Boeser-6yrs/6M per

Nils Hoglander-3yrs/3.5M per

Olli Juolevi-3yrs/3M per

Adrian Kempe-3yrs/2.75M per

Jake Virtanen-3yrs/2.6M per

Adam Gaudette-3yrs/2.5M per

Tyler Motte-3yrs/1.7M per

All RFAs are re-signed by the Vancouver Canucks.

Vancouver Canucks sign a few players in Free Agency:

Rickard Rakell-5yrs/5M per

Chris Tierney-4yrs/3.5M per

Ilya Mikheyev-2yrs/2.5M per

The Vancouver Canucks are a powerhouse in the 2022-23 season; they cruise through the Stanley Cup playoffs on route to their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

By the 2023-24 season, the Vancouver Canucks have won a Stanley Cup and could be on the verge of winning another.

2023-24 Vancouver Canucks

How to Improve Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets have a solid team, but if they want to make the playoffs in the newly formed All-Canadian Division, they need to improve their roster. The Jets should focus on improving their defense, their offensive depth, and prospect pool.

The Winnipeg Jets start by making two huge blockbuster trades:

Winnipeg Jets trade Patrik Laine to the Montreal Canadiens for Jonathan Drouin, Philip Danault, Victor Mete, Artturi Lekhonen, 1st round pick 2021.

This trade is beneficial for both sides because the Habs get Patrik Laine, a stud goal scorer, while the Jets get Jonathan Drouin, Philip Danault, two Mete, and Lehkonen, solid role players, and a 1st round pick.

Winnipeg also trades Adam Lowry, Nathan Beaulieu, and a 2021 2nd round pick to the Buffalo Sabres for Brandon Montour.

This is a good trade for both teams because the Jets get Brandon Montour, a stable two-way defenseman, while the Sabres get Adam Lowry, a valuable role player, Nathan Beaulieu,

and a 2nd round pick.

At the trade deadline, Paul Stastny gets traded to the Florida Panthers for 2nd round pick '21.

Stastny is a Free Agent after the 2021 season, so it would be smart to move him at the deadline rather than lose him for nothing in free agency.

Despite the changes to the roster, the Winnipeg Jets still end up missing the playoffs; they end up with the 12th pick in the draft.

2021 Draft

12-Mason McTavish

15 (from MTL)-Corson Ceulemans

43 (from FLA)-Wyatt Johnston

The Winnipeg Jets add Mason McTavish, a blue-chip prospect, Corson Ceulemans, a great two-way defenseman, and Wyatt Johnston, a skilled center; these prospects should be key pieces of the team down the road.

After the draft, Nikolaj Ehlers, Neal Pionk are traded to the LA Kings for Akil Thomas and a 2022 1st round pick.

The LA Kings get Nikolaj Ehlers, a proven top 6 winger, and Neal Pionk, a top 4 defenseman; the Jets get Akil Thomas, a great prospect forward, and a 1st round pick.

Winnipeg Jets re-sign a few players:

Brandon Montour-2yrs/4M per

Artturi Lehkonen-3yrs/3.5M per

Victor Mete-2yrs/2M per

Free Agent Signings:

Cedric Paquette, Nick Ritchie-2 yrs/1.5 million per

All RFAs are re-signed by the Winnipeg Jets.

The Winnipeg Jets miss the playoffs in the 2021-22 season; they end up with the 8th pick in the draft.

At the 2022 draft, the Winnipeg Jets trade picks 6 and a 2023 2nd round pick to the New Jersey Devils for pick 4.

2022 Draft

4 (from NJ)-Ivan Miroshichenko

8-Frank Nazar

The Winnipeg Jets draft Ivan Miroshichenko and Frank Nazar, two huge pieces of their core for years to come.

The Winnipeg Jets make narrowly miss the playoffs in the playoffs in the 2022-23 season; they end up with the 16th pick in the draft.

2023 Draft

16-Mikhail Gulyayev

The Jets draft a talented Russian defenseman that they hope will be a huge part of their D-core in the future.

Winnipeg Jets re-sign a few players:

Cole Perfetti-8yrs/5.8M per

Ville Heinola-6yrs/4.5M per

Akil Thomas-3yrs/3.5M per

Victor Mete-3yrs/2.75M per

Free Agent Signings:

Carl Hagelin-3yrs/2.5M per

All RFAs are re-signed by the Winnipeg Jets.

The Winnipeg Jets cruise through the 2023-24 season and winning the Presidents' Trophy in the process; then the Winnipeg Jets go on to win the Stanley cup.

After the season, Blake Wheeler is traded to the Ottawa Senators for Drake Batherson, Lassi Thomson, and a 2025 1st round pick.

This is a great trade for both teams because the Sens get a great veteran leader in Blake Wheeler, while the Jets get Batherson and Lassi Thomson, two great young players and a 1st round pick.

Winnipeg Jets re-sign a few players:

Connor Hellebuyck-6yrs/8.5 million per

Mark Scheifele-6yrs/8.5 million per

Drake Batherson-4yrs/4.25 million per

Artturi Lehkonen-3yrs/3 million per

Alex Formenton-3yrs/3 million per

Dylan DeMelo-1yr/3 million

By the 2024-25 season, the Winnipeg Jets are a powerhouse and are on the verge of becoming a dynasty.

What If Florida Panthers Drafted Correctly in the Last 5 Years

The Florida Panthers have showed over the last decade why they are a losing organization but their draft success in last 5 years is especially bad. If the Florida Panthers drafted correctly in the last 5 years, they would have been a contender by now.

Matt Barzal and Kirill Kaprizov will some much needed secondary scoring to the team and Ethan Bear can be a solid top 4 defenseman.

Sam Girard is a solid young top 4 defenseman, while Tage Thompson can grew to be a good power forward

2018

No Change in draft picks

What if Dallas Stars trade Tyler Seguin

The Dallas Stars had a really good playoff run last season and made it to the Stanley cup finals without Jamie Benn or Tyler Seguin doing that much. If the Stars want to remain a playoff team, they might have trade one of the two because it is clear that they aren't as effective as a duo anymore.

Jamie Benn is the Captain of the Dallas Stars and still has plenty of value even if he isn't scoring; Tyler Seguin on the other hand is purely a goal scorer and doesn't do much anything else, so it would make sense to trade Tyler Seguin.

Dallas Stars trade Tyler Seguin to the Carolina Hurricanes for Vincent Trocheck, Martin Necas, Nino Niederreiter, 1st round pick 2021.

The Hurricanes get Tyler Seguin, a very good scorer, while the Stars get Vincent Trocheck and Nino Niederreiter, two top 6 forwards along with Martin Necas, a talented young forward and a 1st round pick.

Dallas also trades Alex Radulov to the New Jersey Devils for Pavel Zacha, Jesper Boqvist, 2nd rd pick 2021.

The Devils get a savvy veteran winger in Alex Radulov, while the Stars get two talented young players, Alex Radulov and Jesper Boqvist plus a 2nd round pick.

The Dallas Stars narrowly miss the playoffs and finishing with the 15th worst record in the league.

The Dallas Stars lose Jamie Oleksiak in the expansion draft to the Seattle Kraken.

At the 2021 draft, Dallas Stars trade picks 24, 2nd rd pick 2022 to the New York Rangers for pick 19

Dallas also trades picks 47, 50, 56 to the Ottawa Senators for pick 32

2021 Draft

15-Matthew Beniers

19-Fabian Lysell

32-James Malatesta

The Stars draft three top end prospects that will be a big part of their core in the future.

After the draft, two major trades are made:

Dallas Stars trade John Klingberg to the New York Rangers for Braden Schneider, Vitaly Kravtsov, 1st rd pick 2022.

The Rangers get John Klingberg, a great puck moving defenseman, while the Stars add two great prospects in Braden Schneider and Evgeny Kravtsov plus a 1st round pick.

Ben Bishop is traded to the Buffalo Sabres for Casey Mittelstadt, Tage Thompson, 2nd round pick 2022.

The Sabres get Ben Bishop, a former Vezina trophy winner, while the Stars get Mittelstadt and Thompson, two solid young players and a 2nd round pick.

Dallas Stars re-sign Miro Heiskanen to a 8 yr deal worth 7.5 million per season.

Joel Kiviranta is re-signed to a 3 yr deals worth 2.5 million per season.

Dallas Stars sign Brandon Montour to a 2 yr deal worth 4 million per season.

The Dallas Stars finish the 2021-22 season with the 9th worst record in the league but end up with the 11th pick in the draft.

At the 2022 Draft, Dallas Stars trade picks 11, 22, 2nd round pick 2023 to the New Jersey Devils for pick 5.

2022 Draft

5-Rutger McGroarty

The Stars draft Rutger McGroarty, talented center, who should be their number 1 center for years to come.

Dallas Stars re-sign Denis Gurianov to a 5 yr deal worth 4.5 million per season.

Martin Necas is re-signed to a 3 yr deal worth 3.6 million per season, Ty Dellandrea to a 3 yr deal worth 3.5 million per season.

Jake Oettinger is re-signed to a 2 yr deal worth 2.75 million per season, Jesper Boqvist to a 2 yr deal worth 1.2 million per season.

Dallas Stars sign Michal Kempny to a 3 yr deal worth 2.5 million per season.

HOW TO FIX PITTSBURGH PENGUINS

The Pittsburgh Penguins are far from being a contending team now, in fact they would be better off trading everyone except Crosby and going forward with a full rebuild.

Two major trades are made by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2020 offseason:

The Pittsburgh Penguins plummet in the standings without Malkin, Letang, Guentzel and finish with the worst record in the league; unfortunately, they can't land the number 1 pick but they do still end up getting the 2nd pick in the draft.

2022 draft results:

WHAT IF PHILADELPHIA FLYERS TRADE GIROUX AND VORACEK

After getting eliminated in the 2nd round of the Playoffs by the New York Islanders, the Philadelphia Flyers might look to retool their team.

The two players that get talked about the most in trade talks are Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek;'

although it's not likely they get trade, i'm going to explore what would happen if they did decide to trade them.

In the 2020 offseason, a few trades are made:

Philadelphia Flyers trade Claude Giroux to the Detroit Red Wings for Anthony Mantha, Filip Zadina, 1st round pick 2022.

The Detroit Red Wings need a star player to pair with Dylan Larkin and Claude Giroux would certainly fit that criteria; on the other hand, the Flyers would get Anthony Mantha and Filip Zadina, two very good forwards and a 1st round pick.

The Flyers also trade Jakub Voracek, Nolan Patrick to the Buffalo Sabres for Victor Olofsson, Tage Thompson, 1st round pick 2021.

The Sabres would love to add another highly skilled winger to play in the top 6 along with Taylor Hall and Jack Eichel, so Jakub Voracek would be an awesome fit, Nolan Patrick is still on IR but if he gets healthy, he could be a nice piece for them down the road. For the Flyers, Victor Olofsson is a solid goal scoring winger and Tage Thompson ins a solid prospect but the key to this deal is the 1st round pick.

Shayne Gostisbehere is traded to the Boston Bruins for Nick Ritchie, 2nd round pick 2021.

The Bruins need a LD, while the Flyers don't need any defenseman so this makes sense for both teams.

After clearing a ton of cap space, the Flyers make a huge blockbuster trade:

Philadelphia Flyers trade Anthony Mantha, Joel Farabee, Morgan Frost, Yegor Zamula, 1st round pick 2022 to the Winnipeg Jets for Patrik Laine.

The Flyers get an elite goal scorer in Patrik Laine while the Jets get Anthony Mantha, three very good prospects and a 1st round pick.

Philadelphia Flyers re-sign Victor Olofsson to a 5 yr deal worth 5 million per season, Phil Myers to a 6 yr deal worth 4.25 million per season.

Without Giroux and Voracek, the Philadelphia Flyers take a step back in the 2020-21 season and get eliminated in the first round of the playoffs; they end up with the 16th pick in the draft.

Philadelphia Flyers buyout James Van Riemsdyk, which costs them 1.77 million until the 2025-26 season.

Philadelphia Flyers lose Oskar Lindblom to the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft.

2021 draft results:

5 (from BUF)-Simon Edvinsson

16-Cole Sillinger

60-Tristian Lennox

The Flyers draft a top pair defenseman in Simon Edvinsson, a talented and dynamic two way center in Cole Sillinger and one of the top prospect goalies in Tritian Lennox.

Philadelphia Flyers re-sign Patrik Laine to a 8 yr deal worth 9.5 million per season.

Carter Hart is re-signed to a 8 yr deal worth 7 million per season, Travis Sanheim to a 7 year deal worth 5 million per season.

Scott Laughton is re-signed to a 3 yr deal worth 2.5 million per season, Erik Gustafsson is re-signed to a 1 yr deal worth 3 million.

Philadelphia Flyers sign Jordan Martinook to a 2 yr deal worth 2 million per season.

The young players on the Flyers take a huge jump and the Flyers end up making it to the Conference finals before being knocked out by the New York Rangers.

The Flyers have the 25th pick in the draft; this pick goes to the Winnipeg Jets as part of the Patrik Laine trade.

2022 draft results:

5 (from DET)- Rutger McGroarty

The Flyers draft a very talented and dynamic center in Rutger McGroarty, who should be their 2nd line center in a two seasons.

After the draft, two trades are made:

Philadelphia Flyers trade Kevin Hayes to the Detroit Red Wings for 3rd round pick 2023; the Flyers retain 1.14 million of Hayes' contract.

The Detroit Red Wings get their 2nd line center in Kevin Hayes for just a 3rd round pick, while the Flyers clear a ton of cap space.

Sean Couturier is traded to the Ottawa Senators for Colin White, Alex Formenton, 1st rd pick 2023 in a sign and trade.

The Senators get a grade A selke caliber center in Couturier, while the Flyers get two very good players in White and Alex Formenton and a 1st round pick.

Filip Zadina is re-signed to a 3 yr deal worth 3.5 million per season, Alex Formenton to a 3 yr deal worth 2.9 million per season.

The Flyers also re-sign Tage Thompson, Robert Hagg, Nicolas Aube Kubel to a 2 yr deal.

The Philadelphia Flyers lose in the second round of the playoffs to the New York Islanders and end up with the 17th pick in the draft.

At the 2023 draft, Philadelphia Flyers trade picks 17, 26, 2nd rd pick '24, 2nd rd pick '25 to the San Jose Sharks for pick 6

2023 draft results:

6 (from SJ)-Nate Danielson

The Flyers draft a dynamic forward in Nate Danielson, who could be a big part of the team moving forward.

WHAT IF BUFFALO SABRES TRADE JACK EICHEL

The Jack Eichel trade rumors have been been constantly popping up, so I will look into what would happen if the Buffalo Sabres did indeed trade Jack Eichel.

Trading Jack Eichel is the last resort for the Sabres but it would allow them to totally retool their team.

Before the 2020 draft, Buffalo Sabres make a few trades:

Buffalo Sabres trade Jack Eichel to the New York Rangers for Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider, Vitaly Kravtsov, Libor Hajek, 1st round pick 2020.

The New York Rangers add a superstar in Jack Eichel to add to pair with either Panarin or Lafreniere; while the Sabres get Mika Zibanejad, a star center in his own right, Chris Kreider, top 6 winger, two prospects in Kravtsov and Hajek and a 1st round pick.

The Sabres also trade Rasmus Ristolainen, Casey Mittelstadt to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Ilya Mikheyev, Timothy Liljegren, 2nd round pick 2020.

The Maple Leafs need a top 4 defenseman and Ristolainen fills a need at a relatively low cost, Mittelstadt never quite fit with the Sabres, maybe a change of scenery will help. For the Sabres, Ilya Mikheyev can be a solid top 9 forward and Timothy Liljegren can be a top 4 defenseman; as an added bonus Buffalo also gets a 2nd round pick.

Buffalo also trades Colin Miller, Dominik Kahun, 2nd round pick 2020 to the New Jersey Devils for Michael McLeod, Joey Anderson.

The Devils add some depth on the roster with the additions of Kahun and Miller and also get a 2nd round pick out of it, while the Sabres get a very talented center in Michael McLeod and a gritty winger in Joey Anderson.

2020 draft results:

8-Marco Rossi

22-Mavrik Bourque

38-Ty Kleven

The Buffalo Sabres draft a blue chip prospect in Marco Rossi, another top notch center prospect in Mavrik Bourque and a good defensive prospect in Ty Kleven.

Linus Ullmark is re-signed to a 2 yr deal worth 2.5 million per season.

Buffalo Sabres re-sign Jimmy Vesey, Johan Larsson, Zemgus Girgensons to a 2 yr deal worth 1.5 million per season;

Michael McLeod, Tage Thompson, Joey Anderson are re-signed to 2 yr deals.

All other RFAs are re-signed by the Buffalo Sabres.

Buffalo Sabres finish the 2020-21 season with the 5th worst record in the league but end up winning the draft lottery and have the 1st pick in the 2021 draft.

The Buffalo Sabres lose Eric Staal in the expansion draft to the Seattle Kraken.

Buffalo Sabres buyout Jeff Skinner, which costs them a cap hit of 2.47 million per season.

They also buyout Kyle Okposo, which costs them a cap hit of 1 million per season

The Buffalo Sabres land 5 top notch prospects in the 2021 draft;  Brandt Clarke will be a top pair defenseman for a long time, Sasha Pastujov and Simon Robertsson a very good top 6 wingers and the Sabres greatly improve their goaltending with Sebastian Cossa and Tritian Lennox.

Buffalo Sabres re-sign Rasmus Dahlin to a 8 yr deal worth 7.5 million per season;

Libor Hajek to a 3 yr deal worth 2 million per season, Henri Jokiharju is re-signed to a 2 yr deal worth 2.6 million per season.

All other RFAs are re-signed by the Buffalo Sabres.

The Buffalo Sabres finish the 2021-22 season with the 6th worst record in the league but end up with the 3rd pick in the draft.

Before the 2022 draft, Buffalo Sabres make two trades:

Buffalo Sabres trade Mika Zibanejad to the Vegas Golden Knights for Peyton Krebs, Nicolas Roy, 1st round pick 2022.

The Golden Knights need a top line center and Mika Zibanejad will fill that need for them; on the other side of the trade, the Sabres get a great top 6 forward in Peyton Krebs, a top 9 forward in Nicolas Roy and a 1st round pick.

Brandon Montour, Victor Olofsson are traded to the Dallas Stars for Denis Gurianov, Ty Dellandrea.

After the season, two trades are made:

Buffalo Sabres trade Dylan Cozens, Henri Jokiharju to the Minnesota Wild for Kirill Kaprizov, 2nd round pick 2023.

Minnesota Wild need a first line center and Dylan Cozens has the potential to be one but he won't reach that potential on the Sabres; The Sabres get a Top line Left winger in Kirill Kaprizov and a 2nd round pick.

Denis Gurianov is traded to the LA Kings for Jaret Anderson Dolan, 2nd round pick 2023.

The Kings need some scoring help on the Wings and Gurianov will provide an instant boost of offense to the team. Jared Anderson Dolan will likely be the Sabres 4th line center but he is a very talented scorer with third line potential.

Buffalo Sabres re-sign Kirill Kaprizov to a 7 yr deal worth 5.75 million per season.

Peyton Krebs to a 6 yr deal worth 4.5 million per season, Ty Dellandrea to a 5 yr deal worth 4.25 million per season.

All other RFAs are re-signed by the Buffalo Sabres.

The Buffalo Sabres now have a team that has a really good young core and can contend for a Stanley cup for at least the next 5 years.

WHAT IF MONTREAL CANADIENS SIGN TAYLOR HALL

Taylor Hall is going to be one of the top free agents in 2020 and the Montreal Canadiens are one of the teams that are rumored to be after him. The Thing is that Montreal already has Tomas Tatar and Jonathan Drouin at LW, why would they need Taylor Hall? Well to put is simply, the Canadiens lack a star forward and Taylor Hall would provide that star power up front.

If the Canadiens do end up signing Taylor Hall, the Canadiens would need to trade either one of those two players to address other needs on the roster.

Before the 2020 draft, the Canadiens make a few trades:

Montreal Canadiens trade Tomas Tatar, Max Domi to the Nashville Predators for Eeli Tolvanen, 1st round pick 2020.

Nashville Needs skilled wingers with Mikael Granlund and Craig Smith leaving in Free Agency, so adding Tatar and Domi will more than fill that void. For Montreal, the get a young forward in Tolvanen and a 1st round pick.

Montreal also trades Jeff Petry, Jonathan Drouin, Ryan Poehling, 1st round pick 2021 to the Carolina Hurricanes for Dougie Hamilton, Ryan Suzuki.

The Canadiens really need to sure up their defense and Dougie Hamilton is just what the Doctor ordered, so even if Weber is injured, they have a reliable number 1 defenseman. On the other side of the trade, the Canes get a top 4 defenseman in Jeff Petry, a top 6 forward in Jonathan Drouin, a potential top 6 forward in Ryan Poehling and a 1st round pick.

Paul Byron, Victor Mete are dealt to the Detroit Red Wings for Dmytro Timashov, 3rd round pick 2020.

Victor Mete and Paul Byron don't really fit with the Canadiens anymore but they will be really useful on a Red Wings team in need of any help they can get.

At the 2020 draft, Montreal trades picks 47, 48, 64, 77 San Jose Sharks for pick 31

2020 Draft results:

11 (from NSH)-Braden Schneider

15-Dylan Holloway

31 (from SJ)-Brendan Brisson

Montreal drafts a top 4 defenseman in Braden Schneider and a solid a top 6 center in Brendan Brisson.

In Free Agency, Montreal Canadiens sign Taylor Hall to a 7 yr deal worth 10.5 million per season.

Taylor Hall gives the Canadiens a true star forward, something they haven't had in a long time, the contract isn't ideal but that's what the market is for a player of his caliber.

Montreal Canadiens sign Evgenii Dadonov to a 5 yr deal worth 6 million per season.

Dadonov gives the Canadiens another highly skilled forward to play in the top 6 and help out the powerplay.

Montreal signs Radko Gudas to a 3 yr deal worth 3.25 million per season.

Radko Gudas gives the Canadiens more toughness on the backend and makes a great third pair defenseman.

Mattias Janmark, Trevor Lewis, Tomas Nosek to 2 yr deals worth 1.5 million per season per season.

Janmark, Lewis and Nosek would form the newly constructed 4th line for the Canadiens and they could all play a huge role come playoff time.

The Montreal Canadiens make it to the Conference finals in the 2020-21 season but they lose to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 6 games.

Before the expansion draft, Montreal makes one trade:

Montreal Canadiens trade Phillip Danault, Artturi Lehkonen, Ben Chiarot to the Florida Panthers for Owen Tippett, Lucas Wallmark, 3rd round pick 2021.

With this trade, the Panthers address a need at Center, Left wing and Left D, which should help them moving forward; for the Canadiens, they get Owen Tippett a very talented scoring winger, Lucas Wallmark, a 3rd line center and a 3rd round pick.

Montreal Canadiens lose Eeli Tolvanen to the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft.

Before the 2021 draft, two trade are made:

Brendan Gallagher is traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets for 1st round pick 2021 in a sign and trade.

The Canadiens already have more talented wingers locked up and more talented wingers coming up so Gallagher is dealt for a 1st round pick.

Shea Weber is traded to the Anaheim Ducks for 2nd round pick 2022, 3rd round pick 2023. If Anaheim Makes the playoffs, 2nd round pick becomes a 1st round pick.

The Ducks get a veteran defenseman that completes the top 4, while the Canadiens get to dump Webers salary and get some picks out of it.

At the 2021 draft, Montreal trades picks 60, 77, 92 to the Dallas Stars for pick 48

2021 draft results:

19 (from CBJ)-Fabian Lysell

48-Graham Sward

The Canadiens draft Fabian Lysell a very skilled and talented swedish winger and Graham Sward, a solid defenseman, to add to their already stacked prospect pool.

Montreal Canadiens buyout Karl Alzner because they need the cap space to re-sign some players.

Montreal Canadiens re-sign Dougie Hamilton to a 8 yr deal worth 8.5 million per season.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi is re-signed to 5 yr deal worth 5.2 million per season, Lucas Wallmark is re-signed to a 3 yr deal worth 2.5 million per season.

Canadiens don't re-sign Jake Allen because Cayden Primeau should be NHL ready by the 2021-22 season.

All other RFAs are re-signed by the Montreal Canadiens.

The Montreal Canadiens take a step back in the 2021-22 season and lose in the second round of the playoffs to the New York Rangers.

The Anaheim Ducks did make the playoffs in the 2021-22 season, so the Canadiens get their 2022 first round pick.

Before the 2022 draft, Montreal Canadiens make one trade:

Montreal Canadiens trade Evgenii Dadonov to the Calgary Flames for 1st round pick 2022.

The Flames need a skilled winger to play in their top 6 and Dadonov fits that bill; on the other side of the trade, Montreal gets a 1st round pick.

At the 2022 draft, Montreal trades picks 13, 18, 22 to the Florida Panthers for pick 5.

2022 draft results:

5-Rutger McGroarty

Montreal lands a very dynamic goal scoring center in Rutger McGroarty adding to their very talented young core.

Montreal Canadiens re-sign Nick Suzuki to a 6 yr deal worth 5.5 million per season.

Alexander Romanov is re-signed to a 3 yr deal worth 3.5 million per season, Owen Tippett is re-signed to a 2 yr deal worth 2.75 million per season.

All other RFAs are re-signed by the Montreal Canadiens.

The Montreal Canadiens win the presidents trophy in the 2022-23 season with the NHL's best record in the regular season but lose in the Stanley cup finals to the Colorado Avalanche.

Montreal Canadiens re-sign Ryan Suzuki to a 2 yr deal worth 2.8 million per season.

All other RFAs are re-signed by the Montreal Canadiens.

Montreal Canadiens sign Scott Mayfield to a 4 yr deal worth 2 million per season.

Mayfield gives the Canadiens a veteran third pair defenseman that plays physical and can kill penalties.

By the 2023-24 season, the Montreal Canadiens have built a very dangerous contending team.

2023-24 Montreal Canadiens:

T.Hall-J.Kotkaniemi-C.Caufield

F.Lysell-R.McGroarty-N.Suzuki

D.Holloway-Br.Brisson-O.Tippett

T.Timoshov-L.Wallmark-R.Suzuki

A.Romanov-D.Hamilton

J.Edmundson-B.Schneider

G.Sward-S.Mayfield

C.Price

C.Primeau

The Montreal Canadiens have built a deadly young team that has the potential to win a few cups within the next few years.
