2024 Offseason Preview ft. New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils the playoffs in the 2023-24 season after making it into the second round of the playoffs last season, and finished the season with a total of 81 points, a 38-39-5 record; With Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier in the midst of their primes, the New Jersey Devils really need to start to buckle down and put together the pieces for a contending team. The good news is that the New Jersey Devils have the benefit of having the 10th overall pick, which they could move to acquire a netminder, and they also have plenty of cap space to add other players as well. This coming offseason is a big one for the New Jersey Devils front office because after striking out on a netminder last offseason, the pressure to acquire a netminder this offseason is immense for GM Tom Fitzgerald, who might be on the hotseat if he can't find a way to fix the mess. Before the 2024 NHL Draft, the New Jersey Devils make two major trades New Jersey Devils acquire Jacob Markstrom, Matthew Coronato, 1st...

How New Jersey Devils can turn into a Contender by Draft

The New Jersey Devils are a rebuilding team right now but if they draft correctly the next two-three years, they will be a contender in no time. This is how the New Jersey Devils should draft in the next few years. Before the 2022 Draft, two trades are made New Jersey Devils trade PK Subban to the Chicago Blackhawks for Alec Regula, 3rd round pick '22 (in a sign and trade). The Blackhawks get a veteran defenseman in PK Subban to help mentor their young players, while the Devils get Alec Regula, a solid defensive prospect and a draft pick. The Devils also trade Miles Wood, and Pavel Zacha to the Vancouver Canucks for Conor Garland, 1st round pick '23. This trade works for both team because the Canucks get two solid role players, who still have room to grow; for the Devils, they buy low on Conor Garland, and pick up an additonal 1st round pick for taking on his contract. At the 2022 Draft, New Jersey Devils trade pick 4 to the Columbus Blue Jackets for picks 8, 14, 46 The Devils...

How New Jersey Devils can make the Playoffs THIS YEAR

New Jersey Devils' GM, Tom Fitzgerald has said that the Devils want to take that next step this season, and possibly vie for a playoff spot. In this blog, I  explore how the Devils can turn their team into a playoff-caliber team this season. Here is a quick look at the roster right now, and the prospects they have that could potentially crack the lineup. The current lineup looks like this: J.Kuokkanen-J.Hughes-Y.Sharangovich P.Zacha-N.Hischier-J.Bratt M.Wood-M.McLeod-A.Johnsson N.Foote-J.Boqvist-M.Studenic R.Graves-D.Hamilton T.Smith-D.Severson J.Siegenthaler-PK.Subban M.Blackwood J.Bernier Prospects who could potentially crack the lineup are Alexander Holtz, Dawson Mercer, Tyce Thompson, Kevin Bahl The Biggest weakness of the Devils at the current moment is goal scoring; if Holtz and Mercer aren't NHL ready yet, then they need to go out and trade for one. The Devils have been one of the teams that have been linked to Vladimir Tarasenko; Tarasenko is exactly what this team ne...

How New Jersey Devils can become Stanley Cup Contenders

The New Jersey Devils will likely be one of the worst teams in the NHL this season, but if they rebuild their team correctly, they could be a Stanley Cup contender. To stack up on more picks and prospects, the Devils should trade away some of their veteran players on expiring contracts. New Jersey Devils trade Kyle Palmieri to the Colorado Avalanche for Andre Burakovsky and a 2021 1st round pick.  Colorado Avalanche adds Kyle Palmieri in hopes of winning the Stanley Cup, while the Devils get Andre Burakovsky and a 1st round pick. The New Jersey Devils also trade Nikita Gusev to the Detroit Red Wings for Tiro Hirose, a 2021 2nd round pick. The Red Wings add Nikita Gusev from the Devils for Tiro Hirose and a 2nd round pick. Travis Zajac is traded to the Florida Panthers for a 2021 2nd round pick.  The Panthers add Travis Zajac, a solid veteran center from the Devils. Jesper Bratt is re-signed to a 4 yr deal worth 3.25 million per season. The New Jersey Devils finish the 20...

REBUILDING 2012-13 NEW JERSEY DEVILS

After Zach Parise left in Free Agency, the New Jersey Devils were a mess and then after Ilya Kovalchuk decided to "Retire" and return to play in Russia, the Devils were left witha mediocre roster that couldn't contend for the playoffs anymore. The Rebuild starts in 2012 Draft Instead of waiting on Zach Parise, the Devils trade his rights to the Minnesota Wild for Jason Zucker. Zach Parise was going to sign with the Wild anyways, so it makes sense to get something for him. Jason Zucker was buried in the depth chart of Wild for years, he would have found success much sooner with the Devils. Martin Brodeur is Traded to the Chicago Blackhawks for Nick Leddy, 2nd round pick 2013. If Chicago Wins the Stanley Cup, the 2nd round pick becomes a 1st round pick. Martin Broduer gives the Chicago Blackhawks a veteran goalie they can lean on in the playoffs, while the Devils get a young defenseman in Nick Leddy who was always in Joel Queneville's doghouse. New Jer...

REDRAFTING NEW JERSEY DEVILS FOR A DECADE (2000-2010)

The New Jersey Devils were successful in winning stanley cups in the early 2000s however their drafting woes throughout the 2000s have led them to their downfall. If the New Jersey Devils drafted well during those years, they could have remained on top for much longer. In this blog, i will redraft the New Jersey Devils from 2000-2010s. Rules for the redraft: Must select a player in every round Must draft 4 players in every draft 2000: 22-Niklas Kronwall over David Hale 62-Paul Martin 76-Dominic Moore over Michael Rupp 125-John Michael Liles over Phil Cole The Devils upgrade the Defense in the pipeline with the additions of Niklas Kronwall, Paul Martin and John Michael Liles; they might play a major role on defense moving forward. 2001: 28-Derek Roy over Adrian Foster 48-Jason Pominville over Pihlman 67-Craig Anderson over Robin Lebanc 72-Patrick Sharp over Brandon Nolan The Devils add some offensive firepower with the Additions of Derek Roy, Jason Pominvi...
