How Winnipeg Jets can win their first Stanley Cup

The Winnipeg Jets are a borderline playoff team right now, but if they want to win a Stanley Cup, they will need to make a few changes. This is how I would turn the Winnipeg Jets into a Stanley Cup caliber team.

Before the 2021 Draft, two trades are made:

Winnipeg Jets trade Paul Stastny to the Detroit Red Wings for 3rd rd pick '21.

The Jets don't need Paul Stastny anymore because they intend on playing Pierre Luc Dubois at center for the upcoming season.

The Jets also trade Mathieu Perreault, Derek Forbort, Trevor Lewis to the Calgary Flames for Joakim Nordstrom, Brett Ritchie, 4th rd pick '22.

Winnipeg bulks up with the additions of Joakim Nordstrom and Brett Ritchie, and they get a 4th round pick as well.

Winnipeg Jets lose Dylan DeMelo to the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft.

2021 draft

18-Corson Ceulemans

50-Sean Behrens

82-Shai Buium

95-Kalle Vaisanen

The Winnipeg Jets greatly bolster their defense with the additions of Ceulemans, Behrens, and Buium.

Winnipeg Jets re-sign a few players:

Neal Pionk-6yrs/5.2M per

Andrew Copp-5yrs/3.25M per

Tucker Poolman-3yrs/2.5M per

Logan Stanley-2yrs/2M per

Laurent Brossoit-2yrs/1.5M per

Joakim Nordstrom-2yrs/950k per

Brett Richie-2yrs/900k per

Nate Thompson-1yr/700k

Winnipeg Jets re-sign all RFAs

Winnipeg Jets make two free-agent signings:

Jamie Oleksiak-3yrs/3.5M per

Cody Ceci-1yr/1.75M

The Winnipeg Jets make the playoffs in the 2021-22 season, but get knocked out in the first round of the playoffs.

Before the 2022 draft, the Winnipeg Jets make two major trades:

Winnnipeg Jets trade Pierre Luc Dubois to the Montreal Canadiens for Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Artturi Lehkonen, 1st round pick '22.

This trade makes the Montreal Canadiens strong at center and turns them into an instant contender.

The Jets also trade Nikolaj Ehlers to the Boston Bruins for Jake DeBrusk, Jack Studnicka, 1st round pick '22.

The Bruins get a shift winger to play alongside David Krejci, while the Jets get to retool a little bit.

2022 draft

14-Seamus Casey

18-Cruz Luciuz

22-Ivan Miroshichenko

The Winnipeg Jets draft Seamus Casey, Cruz Lucius, and Ivan Miroshichenko, three terrific prospects that should be a huge part of the teams' future.

Winnipeg Jets re-sign a few players:

Jack Studnicka-3yrs/1.5M per

Cody Ceci-1yr/1.7M

Winnipeg Jets re-sign all RFAs

Winnipeg Jets sign Johan Larsson, Nick Cousins to a 2 yr deal worth 1.5M per season.

The Winnipeg Jets have a terrific regular season but lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs in the 2022-23 season.

Before the 2023 draft, two major trades are made:

Winnipeg Jets trade Blake Wheeler to the Buffalo Sabres for Rasmus Asplund, Matej Pekar, 1st round pick '23.

The Buffalo Sabres get Blake Wheeler, a veteran player, who can help mentor Buffalo's young players.

The Jets also trade Jake DeBrusk, Artturi Lehkonen to the Edmonton Oilers for Ethan Bear, Cooper Marody, 3rd rd pick '23.

The Jets grab some prospects from the Oilers that weren't be used for DeBrusk and Lehkonen, two players who were going to be free agents.

The Winnipeg Jets have the Sabres 1st round pick, which was originally 10th overall; however, they get lucky in the lottery and land the 2nd pick in the draft.

2023 draft

2-Matvei Michkov

25-Gracyn Sawchyn

The Winnipeg Jets get Matvei Michkov, the best pure goal scorer available in the draft since Alex Ovechkin.

Winnipeg Jets re-sign a few players:

Jesperi Kotkaniemi-5yrs/5.2M per

Cole Perfetti-3yrs/4.5M per

Ville Heinola-3yrs/3M per

Rasmus Asplund-2yrs/2M per

Tyler Benson-2yrs/900k per

Cooper Marody-2yrs/900k per

Matej Pekar-2yrs/800k per

Winnipeg Jets re-sign all RFAs

Antony Stolarz-2yrs/1M per

The Winnipeg Jets take a step back in the 2023-24 season and lose in the first round of the playoffs.

After the season, one major trade is made:

Winnipeg Jets trade Neal Pionk, 1st rd pick '24 to the Philadelphia Flyers for Travis Konecny, Morgan Frost.

This is a win-win trade for both teams because the Flyers get a Right defenseman to paid with Ivan Provorov and a 1st round pick, while the Jets get Travis Konecny, a top 6 winger, who got lost in the shuffle in Philly and Morgan Frost.

Winnipeg Jets re-sign a few players:

Mark Scheifele-8yrs/9.5M per

Connor Hellebuyck-7yrs/8M per

Corson Ceulemans-6yrs/4.5M per

Ethan Bear-3yrs/2.75M per

Morgan Frost-2yrs/1.8M per

Winnipeg Jets re-sign all RFAs

The Winnipeg Jets win the Stanley Cup in the 2024-25 season.

By the 2025-26 season, the Winnipeg Jets have built a frightening team.

2025-26 Winnipeg Jets

K.Connor-M.Scheifele-C.Lucius

I.Miroshichenko-C.Perfetti-T.Konecny

R.Asplund-J.Kotkaniemi-M.Frost

A.Copp-A.Lowry-J.Studnicka

V.Heinola-C.Ceulemans

J.Morrissey-S.Casey

S.Behrens-E.Bear

C.Hellebuyck

A.Stolarz

Non Roster players: M.Michkov, G.Sawchyn, C.Marody, S.Buium, K.Vasainen, M.Pekar

The Winnipeg Jets have already won a Stanley cup and could win more after Matvei Michkov joins the team.

Fantasy Hockey Forwards to Trade For

Here is a list of Players who you should consider trading for in Fantasy Hockey. Tage Thompson Tage Thompson had very high expectations of him heading into this season but has been a massive disappointment to this point in the season with only 7 goals, 8 assists, 4 PPP, 60 SOG, and 99 FW. Thompson has been better after coming back from injury and you would think that he is going to eventually start putting points in bunches. Because of how bad Thompson's statline is this season. it would be a good idea to trade for him because you may not have to give up a lot in return.  Elias Lindholm Elias Lindholm is another player who has had a slow start to the season with only 7 goals, 10 assists, 3 PPP, 68 SOG, and 297 FW so far this season. Lindholm is definitely going to want to play better if he wants to increase his value for his next contract and also showcase himself for a trade at the deadline. If Lindholm gets dealt to a contending team, his fantasy value would drastically improve b

TIPS FOR DECIDING WHO TO KEEP FOR KEEPER/DYNASTY LEAGUES

Keeper fantasy leagues are a variation of traditional fantasy sports leagues where participants are allowed to keep a certain number of players from their previous season's roster onto their team for the upcoming season. The number of players that can be kept, as well as the specific rules regarding keeping players, vary from league to league and are typically determined by the league commissioner or by a set of agreed-upon rules among league members. In a keeper league, the kept players usually come with a cost, such as forfeiting a specific draft pick in the upcoming draft or having to pay a predetermined fee. This adds a strategic element to the game, as managers must decide which players to keep based on their performance, potential, and value relative to the cost of keeping them. Keeper leagues often provide a deeper level of engagement and strategy compared to standard fantasy leagues because managers need to consider long-term player development and roster management beyond

FANTASY HOCKEY WAIVER WIRE PLAYERS TO PICKUP

Here are some players you should pickup in Fantasy Hockey, sorted by position. Center Colton Sissons Colton Sissons is one of the best 4th line centers in the league, but in fantasy hockey, he could be even more valuable than he actually is in real life because of what he provides in the peripheral categories. So far this season Sissions has 5 goals, 1 PPP, 1 SHP, 12 PIM, 20 SOG, 89 FW, 15 hits, and 9 blocks. This is a terrific stat line and although you can't count on Sissons scoring a ton, he will fill out the FW, Hits, and blocks usually. Sissons is owned in 6% of fantasy leagues, snag him up while you can. Nick Bjugstad Nick Bjugstad is having an excellent year so far with the Arizona Coyotes, in fact he has played so well that he earned himself a promotion to play on the 2nd line along with Mattias Maccelli and Lawson Crouse. Bjugstad also gets time on Arizona's 2nd PP unit and 2nd PK unit. Bjugstad may not be a name who stands out to casuals, but his fantasy stat line is
