How San Jose Sharks can Win their First Stanley Cup

The San Jose Sharks have never won a Stanley Cup in their franchise history, but if they make the proper changes and draft correctly, they could win Lord Stanley's Cup. This is how the San Jose Sharks could win their first-ever Stanley Cup.

Before the expansion draft, one trade is made:

San Jose Sharks trade Marc-Eduord Vlasic, Ryan Merkley, 1st rd pick '23 to the Seattle Kraken for 2nd rd pick '23. The Sharks retain 25% of Vlasic's contract until the 2024-25 season.

This trade allows the Sharks to get rid of Vlasic's contract and trade away Ryan Merkely, who is ultra-talented but his discipline issues.

San Jose Sharks lose Marcus Sorensen to the Seattle Kraken in the Expansion Draft.

Before the 2021 Draft, two trades are made:

San Jose Sharks trade Ryan Donato, Radim Simek, Noah Gregor to the Arizona Coyotes for Lawson Crouse, Tyler Pitlick, 4th rd pick '21.

The Sharks add more physicality to the lineup with the additions of Lawson Crouse and Tyler Pitlick, while the Coyotes get a top 9 forward in Ryan Donato, a top 6 defenseman in Radim Simek, and a depth center in Noah Gregor.

The Sharks also trade Kevin Lebanc to the Vancouver Canucks for Jake Virtanen, 2nd round pick '21.

This trade benefits both teams because Lebanc gets a chance to play alongside Elias Pettersson on the top line, while Jake Virtanen gets a fresh start in San Jose.

2021 draft

7-Brandt Clarke

41-Matthew Knies

71-Tyler Boucher

The San Jose Sharks draft Brandt Clarke, a potential top-pair defenseman, as well as Matthiew Knies and Tyler Boucher, two solid forwards.

San Jose Sharks re-sign a few players:

Dylan Gambrell-2yrs/1.5M per

Rudolfs Balcers-2yrs/1.3M per

Josef Korenar-2yrs/800k per

San Jose Sharks re-sign All other RFAs

San Jose Sharks sign Sam Reinhart to a 7 yr deal worth 5.5 million per season, Jason Demers to a 1 yr deal worth 2.5M.

The San Jose Sharks finish the 2021-22 season with the 7th worst record in the league, but they win the draft lottery and end up with the 2nd overall pick in the draft.

Before the 2022 draft, a few trades are made:

San Jose Sharks trade Logan Couture to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Liam Foudy, Emil Benstrom, Alexandre Texier, 1st round pick '22.

The Columbus Blue Jackets get a legit first line center in Logan Couture, while the Sharks get a couple of solid young players and a 1st round pick.

The Sharks also trade Brent Burns to the Edmonton Oilers for Evan Bouchard, Jesse Puljujarvi, Cooper Marody, 1st round pick '23.

The Edmonton Oilers get Brent Burns, a legit top pair defenseman to pair with Darnell Nurse, while the Sharks get Evan Bouchard, Jesse Puljujarvi, two terrific young players and a 1st round pick.

Evander Kane is traded to the New Jersey Devils for Nolan Foote, 2nd round pick '22, 2nd round pick '24.

The Devils get a legit top 6 winger to put on the line with Jack Hughes, while the Sharks get a top prospect in Nolan Foote and two second-round picks.

At the 2022 Draft, San Jose Sharks trade pick 8 to the Philadelphia Flyers for picks 13, 45.

2022 Draft

2-Matthew Savoie

13-Issac Howard

39-Joakim Kemell

The San Jose Sharks strike gold in the 2022 draft, landing Matthew Savoie and Issac Howard in the first round, then Joakim Kemell, Simon Forsmark, and Filip Bystedt in the second round.

San Jose Sharks re-sign a few players:

Tomas Hertl-6yrs/6M per

Mario Ferraro-5yrs/3M per

At the trade deadline, the San Jose Sharks make one major trade:

San Jose Sharks trade Martin Jones to the Ottawa Senators for 3rd rd pick '23. If the Senators make it to the playoffs, the 3rd round pick becomes a 2nd round pick.

The Senators get a playoff-proven goalie in Martin Jones, while the Sharks get a conditional 3rd round pick that could become a 2nd round pick.

Without Logan Couture, Brent Burns, and Evander Kane, the San Jose Sharks finish with the worst record in the NHL, but two teams jump them in the lottery and they end up with the 3rd pick in the draft.

The Senators did make the playoffs with the help of Martin Jones, so the Sharks get the Sens' 2023 2nd round pick.

Before the draft, one trade is made:

San Jose Sharks acquire Yaroslav Askarov from the Nashville Predators for 1st round pick '23, 1st round pick '25.

This is a lot to give up for a prospect goalie, but Askarov is projected to be the best goalie prospect since Carey Price.

2023 Draft

3-Adam Fantilli

San Jose Sharks draft Adam Fantilli, an ultra-talented forward who should be a big part of the Sharks core in the future.

After the draft, San Jose Sharks acquire Anthony Cirelli from the Tampa Bay Lightning for 2nd rd pick '24, 2nd rd pick '26.

The Sharks get Anthony Cirelli, a player with cup experience and is extremely versatile.

San Jose Sharks re-sign a few players:

Anthony Cirelli-3yrs/5M per

Evan Bouchard-3yrs/2.75M per

Josef Korenar-3yrs/2.5M per

San Jose Sharks re-sign All other RFAs.

San Jose Sharks sign Yaroslav Askarov to a 2yr entry-level contract.

The San Jose Sharks have a major turnaround in the 2023-24 season, and they make the playoffs, however, due to the inexperience of their core players are quickly bounced in the first round.

San Jose Sharks re-sign a few players:

Brandt Clarke-5yrs/5M per

Liam Foudy-3yrs/2.5M per

Emil Benstrom-2yrs/1.6M per

San Jose Sharks re-sign All other RFAs.

To the shock of the hockey world, the San Jose Sharks have a cinderella run in the 2024-25 season, and win the Stanley Cup, capping off their Cup run with a victory over the New York Rangers.

San Jose Sharks re-sign a few players:

Matthew Savoie-3yrs/5.5M per

Issac Howard-3yrs/4.75M per

Matthew Knies-2yrs/2.5M per

By the 2025-26 season, the San Jose Sharks have a Stanley Cup and are on the cusp of assembling a dynasty

Fantasy Hockey Forwards to Trade For

Here is a list of Players who you should consider trading for in Fantasy Hockey. Tage Thompson Tage Thompson had very high expectations of him heading into this season but has been a massive disappointment to this point in the season with only 7 goals, 8 assists, 4 PPP, 60 SOG, and 99 FW. Thompson has been better after coming back from injury and you would think that he is going to eventually start putting points in bunches. Because of how bad Thompson's statline is this season. it would be a good idea to trade for him because you may not have to give up a lot in return.  Elias Lindholm Elias Lindholm is another player who has had a slow start to the season with only 7 goals, 10 assists, 3 PPP, 68 SOG, and 297 FW so far this season. Lindholm is definitely going to want to play better if he wants to increase his value for his next contract and also showcase himself for a trade at the deadline. If Lindholm gets dealt to a contending team, his fantasy value would drastically improve b

TIPS FOR DECIDING WHO TO KEEP FOR KEEPER/DYNASTY LEAGUES

Keeper fantasy leagues are a variation of traditional fantasy sports leagues where participants are allowed to keep a certain number of players from their previous season's roster onto their team for the upcoming season. The number of players that can be kept, as well as the specific rules regarding keeping players, vary from league to league and are typically determined by the league commissioner or by a set of agreed-upon rules among league members. In a keeper league, the kept players usually come with a cost, such as forfeiting a specific draft pick in the upcoming draft or having to pay a predetermined fee. This adds a strategic element to the game, as managers must decide which players to keep based on their performance, potential, and value relative to the cost of keeping them. Keeper leagues often provide a deeper level of engagement and strategy compared to standard fantasy leagues because managers need to consider long-term player development and roster management beyond

FANTASY HOCKEY WAIVER WIRE PLAYERS TO PICKUP

Here are some players you should pickup in Fantasy Hockey, sorted by position. Center Colton Sissons Colton Sissons is one of the best 4th line centers in the league, but in fantasy hockey, he could be even more valuable than he actually is in real life because of what he provides in the peripheral categories. So far this season Sissions has 5 goals, 1 PPP, 1 SHP, 12 PIM, 20 SOG, 89 FW, 15 hits, and 9 blocks. This is a terrific stat line and although you can't count on Sissons scoring a ton, he will fill out the FW, Hits, and blocks usually. Sissons is owned in 6% of fantasy leagues, snag him up while you can. Nick Bjugstad Nick Bjugstad is having an excellent year so far with the Arizona Coyotes, in fact he has played so well that he earned himself a promotion to play on the 2nd line along with Mattias Maccelli and Lawson Crouse. Bjugstad also gets time on Arizona's 2nd PP unit and 2nd PK unit. Bjugstad may not be a name who stands out to casuals, but his fantasy stat line is
