How New Jersey Devils can become Stanley Cup Contenders

 The New Jersey Devils will likely be one of the worst teams in the NHL this season, but if they rebuild their team correctly, they could be a Stanley Cup contender.


To stack up on more picks and prospects, the Devils should trade away some of their veteran players on expiring contracts.

New Jersey Devils trade Kyle Palmieri to the Colorado Avalanche for Andre Burakovsky and a 2021 1st round pick. 

Colorado Avalanche adds Kyle Palmieri in hopes of winning the Stanley Cup, while the Devils get Andre Burakovsky and a 1st round pick.


The New Jersey Devils also trade Nikita Gusev to the Detroit Red Wings for Tiro Hirose, a 2021 2nd round pick.

The Red Wings add Nikita Gusev from the Devils for Tiro Hirose and a 2nd round pick.


Travis Zajac is traded to the Florida Panthers for a 2021 2nd round pick. 

The Panthers add Travis Zajac, a solid veteran center from the Devils.


Jesper Bratt is re-signed to a 4 yr deal worth 3.25 million per season.


The New Jersey Devils finish the 2020-21 season with the 2nd worst record in the league but end up with the 3rd pick in the draft.


New Jersey Devils lose Will Butcher to the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft.

At the Trade Deadline, the New Jersey Devils trade PK Subban to the LA Kings for Rasmus Kupari, Blake Lizotte, and a 2nd round pick '22.

The Kings acquire PK Subban, a great top 4 defenseman for Rasmus Kupari and Blake Lizotte, two good prospects, and a 2nd round pick.


The New Jersey Devils finish the 2021-22 season with the 8th worst record in the league; they have the 9th pick.


2022 Draft

New Jersey Devils draft Simon Nemec, a talented Slovakian-born defenseman with tons of upside.

The New Jersey Devils barely miss the playoffs in the 2022-23 season;  however, they win the draft lottery and end up with the 3rd pick.


Before the 2023 draft, the New Jersey Devils trade Kevin Bahl, Jesper Bratt, Michael McLeod, 1st round pick '23 to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Mikhail Sergachev.

The Devils acquire their future number 1 defenseman in Mikhail Sergachev, while the Lightning acquires Kevin Bahl, a big six-six defenseman, Jesper Boqvist/Michael McLeod, two great prospects, and a 1st round pick.

Here are some players you should pickup in Fantasy Hockey, sorted by position. Center Colton Sissons Colton Sissons is one of the best 4th line centers in the league, but in fantasy hockey, he could be even more valuable than he actually is in real life because of what he provides in the peripheral categories. So far this season Sissions has 5 goals, 1 PPP, 1 SHP, 12 PIM, 20 SOG, 89 FW, 15 hits, and 9 blocks. This is a terrific stat line and although you can't count on Sissons scoring a ton, he will fill out the FW, Hits, and blocks usually. Sissons is owned in 6% of fantasy leagues, snag him up while you can. Nick Bjugstad Nick Bjugstad is having an excellent year so far with the Arizona Coyotes, in fact he has played so well that he earned himself a promotion to play on the 2nd line along with Mattias Maccelli and Lawson Crouse.
