Why Chicago Blackhawks should trade Patrick Kane

With the Chicago Blackhawks seemingly in a state of rebuild, I think it makes sense for the Chicago Blackhawks to trade Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Here are some trades that would make sense for the two franchise stars.

Patrick Kane Trade Destinations:

New York Rangers

Edmonton Oilers

Buffalo Sabres

Patrick Kane Trade 1:

NY Rangers get Patrick Kane

CHI Blackhawks get Kappo Kakko/Vitaly Kravtsov, Nils Lundkvist, cond. '23 2nd round pick, cond. '25 3rd round pick. If the Rangers make the second round of the playoffs, 2nd round pick becomes a 1st round pick. If Patrick Kane re-signs with the Rangers, Chicago gets a 2025 3rd-round pick.

This trade benefits both teams and the deal will reunite him alongside his former linemate Artermi Panarin.

Patrick Kane Trade 2:

EDM get Patrick Kane

CHI Blackhawks get Jesse Puljujarvi, Tyson Barrie, 2024 1st round pick.

Chicago retains 25% of Patrick Kane's Contract.

This trade is strictly a rental for Edmonton, while for Chicago they get some nice pieces for Kane so they don't lose him for nothing.

Patrick Kane Trade 3:

EDM get Patrick Kane

BUF get Casey Mittelstadt, JJ Peterka, Alexander Kisakov, '23 2nd round pick, cond. '23 2nd round pick. If Kane re-signs with Buffalo, Chicago gets a 2023 2nd round pick.

Chicago gets a pretty good haul in exchange for Patrick Kane, while Kane gets to play for his hometown team.

The Rangers have the best assets to offer Patrick Kane, the question is whether they would be willing to part with a play like Kappo Kakko or Vitaly Kravtsov for a rental like Patrick Kane. Since Patrick Kane has an NMC, he will ultimately control where he ends up, so I think will be between the Sabres or the Rangers, as they are both close to home.

Jonathan Toews Trade Destinations:

Winnipeg Jets

Colorado Avalanche

Ottawa Senators

Jonathan Toews Trade 1:

WPG get Jonathan Toews

CHI Blackhawks get Nate Schmidt, David Gustafsson, 1st round pick '24.

This is a good trade for Jonathan Toews as the Blackhawks are going to get, as his cap hit very unattractive to contenders, so they will have to take back a bad contract as well.

Jonathan Toews Trade 2:

COL Avalanche get Jonathan Toews

CHI Blackhawks get JT Compher, Martin Kaut, 2023 1st round pick.

This is a trade that is made at the Deadline, as Colorado doesn't have enough cap space now to make the trade, but with more cap space available at the deadline, it would be a possibility.

Jonathan Toews Trade 3:

OTT Senators get Jonathan Toews

CHI Blackhawks get Ridly Greig, Shane Pinto, Nikita Zaitsev, 2024 1st round pick.

This trade allows the Senators to do two things, add Jonathan Toews and at the same time dump Nikita Zaitsev's contract.

Unlike the Patrick Kane trade where all the Blackhawks will get a favorable return, the Blackhawks may not get that great a return if they do trade, Jonathan Toews, because he has an NMC and he would have to accept the move there, which restricts the possible trade destinations. Teams like Colorado and Winnipeg may not be able to offer as much as a team like Ottawa could, but Toews wants to win, which would definitely favor the Colorado Avalanche, and the Blackhawks may not get a great return as the Avalanche doesn't have much to offer in a trade for Toews.

Most likely results:

Patrick Kane traded to NYR

Jonathan Toews traded to COL

This is how the lineup looks like after the trades

P.Kurashev-L.Reichel-K.Kakko

T.Johnson-JT.Compher-T.Raddysh

Athanasiou-M.Domi-Co.Blackwell

B.Katchouk-S.Lafferty-M.Entwistle

A.Vlasic-S.Jones

J.McCabe-C.Murphy

R.Stillman-C.Jones

P.Mrazek

A.Stalock

Top Prospects:

F: F.Nazar, M.Kaut, C.Dach, P.Ludwinski, R.Greene, G.Hayes

D: I.Mitchell, N.Lundkvist, K.Korchinski, E.Del Mastro, S.Rinzel

G: J.Stauber, A.Soderblom

The Chicago Blackhawks look like a rebuilding team but added some picks and prospects for two of their former franchise players.

TIPS FOR DECIDING WHO TO KEEP FOR KEEPER/DYNASTY LEAGUES

Keeper fantasy leagues are a variation of traditional fantasy sports leagues where participants are allowed to keep a certain number of players from their previous season's roster onto their team for the upcoming season. The number of players that can be kept, as well as the specific rules regarding keeping players, vary from league to league and are typically determined by the league commissioner or by a set of agreed-upon rules among league members. In a keeper league, the kept players usually come with a cost, such as forfeiting a specific draft pick in the upcoming draft or having to pay a predetermined fee. This adds a strategic element to the game, as managers must decide which players to keep based on their performance, potential, and value relative to the cost of keeping them. Keeper leagues often provide a deeper level of engagement and strategy compared to standard fantasy leagues because managers need to consider long-term player development and roster management beyond ...

Keeper leagues add a layer of strategy and long-term planning to fantasy hockey. Every keeper league has its own unique rules and scoring settings, so adjust your strategy accordingly. By following these tips and adapting to your league's specific dynamics, you can increase your chances of long-term success. Here are some tips to help you dominate your Fantasy Hockey Keeper Leagues. Number of Keepers and League Settings When deciding on keepers, it is very important to know how many keepers the league allows you to keep and the league scoring system, because there are players that work better in H2H CAT leagues as opposed to H2H leagues with standard scoring categories.  If you can only keep a few players, focus on those who provide the most value in your specific scoring format. Keep players who excel in categories that are heavily weighted in your league (e.g., power-play points, hits, blocks, faceoffs). If the league uses Rotisserie or Points settings, you will have to take that...

2024 Offseason Preview ft. New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils the playoffs in the 2023-24 season after making it into the second round of the playoffs last season, and finished the season with a total of 81 points, a 38-39-5 record; With Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier in the midst of their primes, the New Jersey Devils really need to start to buckle down and put together the pieces for a contending team. The good news is that the New Jersey Devils have the benefit of having the 10th overall pick, which they could move to acquire a netminder, and they also have plenty of cap space to add other players as well. This coming offseason is a big one for the New Jersey Devils front office because after striking out on a netminder last offseason, the pressure to acquire a netminder this offseason is immense for GM Tom Fitzgerald, who might be on the hotseat if he can't find a way to fix the mess. Before the 2024 NHL Draft, the New Jersey Devils make two major trades New Jersey Devils acquire Jacob Markstrom, Matthew Coronato, 1st...
