How New York Rangers can become Legit Contenders Next Year

The New York Rangers have a great young core, but they don't have enough NHL experience yet. If they make the right trades, they could be a legit contender as soon as next year. This is how the New York Rangers can become a legit contender next year.

Before the season, a huge blockbuster trade is made:

New York Rangers acquire Jack Eichel from the Buffalo Sabres for Mika Zibanejad, Braden Schneider, 2023 1st round pick.

This is a fair trade for both sides because the Rangers get a legit superstar in Jack Eichel; while the Sabres get Mika Zibanejad, who is a UFA next season, Braden Schneider, and a 1st round pick.

The New York Rangers barely squeak into the playoffs in the 2020-21 season and get eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

Before the 2022 draft, two trades are made:

New York Rangers trade Ryan Strome, Vitaly Kravtsov to the San Jose Sharks for Timo Meier.

This is a great trade for both teams because the Sharks get two great players in Ryan Strome and Vitaly Kravtsov, while the Rangers get a top 6 forward in Timo Meier, who had been misused in San Jose.

The Rangers trade Alexandar Georgiev, 2023 7th round pick to the Buffalo Sabres for a 2022 2nd rd pick, 2022 5th round pick, and 2023 3rd round pick.

This was the return the Rangers got in exchange for Cam Talbot, and with the Sabres in dire need of a Starting goalie, I could see them giving up this type of package for a goalie, who could be their starter.

At the 2022 draft, New York Rangers trade pick 18 to the Arizona Coyotes for picks 36, 43, 57.

2022 Draft

33-Ryan Greene

36-Cruz Lucius

43-Maveric Lamoureux

48-Cutter Gauthier

57-Ludwig Persson

114-Jere Lassila

123-Gibson Homer

142-Topi Ronni

146-Moritz Elias

178-Gleb Trikozov

New York Rangers re-sign a few players:

Adam Fox-8yrs/9.25M per

Kappo Kakko-2yrs/3.5M per

Sammy Blais-2 yrs/1.5M per

Keith Kinkaid-1yr deal

New York Rangers re-sign all Non-Roster RFAs.

In Free Agency, NYR sign:

Vincent Trocheck-7yrs/6M per

Noel Acciari-3yrs/2M per

Before the season, two trades are made:

New York Rangers trade Chris Kreider to the Seattle Kraken for Joonas Donskoi, 2023 2nd round pick. If Seattle makes the playoffs or if Kreider scores 20+ goals, the 2nd round pick becomes a 1st round pick.

This is a good trade for both teams because the Kraken get a proven 20 goals scorer in Chris Kreider, while the Rangers get a cheaper option on the third line in Joonas Donskoi and a conditional 2nd round pick, which could become a 1st round pick.

The Rangers also acquire Sam Montembeault from the Florida Panthers for a 2023 6th round pick.

The Rangers need a backup goalie, and Montemebeault has fallen out of favor in Florida, so this is a win-win trade.

Samuel Montembeault is re-signed to a 1 yr deal.

By the 2022-23 season, the New York Rangers have put together a contending team:

2022-23 New York Rangers

A.Lafreniere-J.Eichel-K.Kakko

A.Panarin-V.Trocheck-J.Donskoi

B.Goodrow-F.Chytil-T.Meier

M.Barron-N.Acciari-S.Blais

K-A.Miller-A.Fox

Z.Jones-J.Trouba

R.Lindgren-N.Lundkvist

I.Shesterkin

K.Kinkaid

Spares: S.Montembeault, P.Nemeth, R.Reaves, D.Hunt

Top Prospects: R.Greene, C.Lucius, C.Gauthier, L.Persson, J.Lassila, M.Lamoureux, G.Homer

This is a dangerous team that could compete for the Stanley Cup for the next couple of years.

Fantasy Hockey Forwards to Trade For

Here is a list of Players who you should consider trading for in Fantasy Hockey. Tage Thompson Tage Thompson had very high expectations of him heading into this season but has been a massive disappointment to this point in the season with only 7 goals, 8 assists, 4 PPP, 60 SOG, and 99 FW. Thompson has been better after coming back from injury and you would think that he is going to eventually start putting points in bunches. Because of how bad Thompson's statline is this season. it would be a good idea to trade for him because you may not have to give up a lot in return.  Elias Lindholm Elias Lindholm is another player who has had a slow start to the season with only 7 goals, 10 assists, 3 PPP, 68 SOG, and 297 FW so far this season. Lindholm is definitely going to want to play better if he wants to increase his value for his next contract and also showcase himself for a trade at the deadline. If Lindholm gets dealt to a contending team, his fantasy value would drastically improve b

TIPS FOR DECIDING WHO TO KEEP FOR KEEPER/DYNASTY LEAGUES

Keeper fantasy leagues are a variation of traditional fantasy sports leagues where participants are allowed to keep a certain number of players from their previous season's roster onto their team for the upcoming season. The number of players that can be kept, as well as the specific rules regarding keeping players, vary from league to league and are typically determined by the league commissioner or by a set of agreed-upon rules among league members. In a keeper league, the kept players usually come with a cost, such as forfeiting a specific draft pick in the upcoming draft or having to pay a predetermined fee. This adds a strategic element to the game, as managers must decide which players to keep based on their performance, potential, and value relative to the cost of keeping them. Keeper leagues often provide a deeper level of engagement and strategy compared to standard fantasy leagues because managers need to consider long-term player development and roster management beyond

FANTASY HOCKEY WAIVER WIRE PLAYERS TO PICKUP

Here are some players you should pickup in Fantasy Hockey, sorted by position. Center Colton Sissons Colton Sissons is one of the best 4th line centers in the league, but in fantasy hockey, he could be even more valuable than he actually is in real life because of what he provides in the peripheral categories. So far this season Sissions has 5 goals, 1 PPP, 1 SHP, 12 PIM, 20 SOG, 89 FW, 15 hits, and 9 blocks. This is a terrific stat line and although you can't count on Sissons scoring a ton, he will fill out the FW, Hits, and blocks usually. Sissons is owned in 6% of fantasy leagues, snag him up while you can. Nick Bjugstad Nick Bjugstad is having an excellent year so far with the Arizona Coyotes, in fact he has played so well that he earned himself a promotion to play on the 2nd line along with Mattias Maccelli and Lawson Crouse. Bjugstad also gets time on Arizona's 2nd PP unit and 2nd PK unit. Bjugstad may not be a name who stands out to casuals, but his fantasy stat line is
