What St. Louis Blues should do in Free Agency

This is a big offseason for the St.Louis Blues because they have a couple key free agents to re-sign, and in addition have to deal with the Vladimir Tarasenko saga as well.

Before the expansion draft, the St.Louis Blues should work to trade Vladimir Tarasenko so they don't lose him for nothing.

St.Louis Blues trade Vladimir Tarasenko to the New York Rangers for Kappo Kakko, Zachary Jones, 2nd round pick '22, 4th rd pick '21. If the Rangers make the playoffs or Tarasneko scores 30+ goals, the 2022 2nd round pick becomes a 1st round pick.

This trade works out great for both teams because Tarasenko gets to play with Artemi Panarin, one of his best friends, while the Blues get a highly talented player in Kappo Kakko, who was underutilized by David Quinn, prospect defenseman Zachary Jones, and a 4th round pick. Depending on Tarasenko and the Rangers' performance next season, the 2nd round pick could become a 1st round pick.

St.Louis Blues also trade Vince Dunn to the Edmonton Oilers for Ethan Bear.

This trade makes sense for both teams because the Oilers need a good young defenseman, while the Blues add Ethan Bear, a player that they wouldn't mind losing in the expansion draft.

St.Louis Blues lose Ethan Bear in the expansion draft to the Seattle Kraken.

After the Tarasenko and Dunn trades, the Blues have 21.03 million in cap space.

Before heading into Free Agency, the Blues make a major trade:

St.Louis Blues trade Jaden Schwartz to the Boston Bruins for Jake DeBrusk, rights to Jaroslav Halak in a sign and trade.

The trade makes sense for both teams because Schwartz fits perfectly into Boston's system; at the same time, Jake DeBrusk gets a change of Scenery and the Blues also get the rights to veteran backup, Jaroslav Halak.

St.Louis Blues now turn their attention to re-signing their key Free agents:

Key UFAs: Mike Hoffman, Tyler Bozak, Jaroslav Halak

Key RFAs: Robert Thomas, Ivan Barabshev, Zach Sanford, Jordan Kyrou

The Blues don't re-sign Mike Hoffman and Tyler Bozak, so will become UFAs.

St.Louis Blues re-sign Jaroslav Halak to a 2yrs deal worth 2 million per season.

St.Louis Blues re-sign:

Robert Thomas-3yrs/4M per

Jordan Kyrou-2yrs/1.7M per

Zach Sanford-2yrs/1.5M per

Ivan Barbashev-3yrs/1.5M per

Before Free Agency, St.Louis Blues make one trade:

St.Louis Blues trade Robert Bortuzzo, Niko Mikkola to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Jake Christiansen, 2021 7th rd pick.

This trade is a cap dump to unload Robert Bortuzzo's contract, in doing so the Blues will free up at least 1.375 million in cap space.

St.Louis Blues enter Free Agency with 9.34 Million in cap space.

In Free Agency, the St.Louis Blues add two key players:

David Savard-5yrs/4.5M per

Alexander Wennberg-3yrs/3.25M per

This is how the lineup looks like after free agency

2021-22 St.Louis Blues

D.Perron-R.O'Reilly-J.Kyrou

J.DeBrusk-B.Schenn-K.Kakko

Z.Sanford-A.Wennberg-R.Thomas

K.Clifford-I.Barbashev-S.Blais

T.Krug-C.Parayko

M.Scandella-J.Faulk

Z.Jones-D.Savard

J.Binnington

J.Halak

Spares: J.Wallman, S.Santini, M.MacEachern, V.Husso

LTIR: O.Sundqvist

The St.Louis Blues look like a much deeper team than they were this season, and hopefully, the new players can mesh together to form a contending team.

Fantasy Hockey Forwards to Trade For

Here is a list of Players who you should consider trading for in Fantasy Hockey. Tage Thompson Tage Thompson had very high expectations of him heading into this season but has been a massive disappointment to this point in the season with only 7 goals, 8 assists, 4 PPP, 60 SOG, and 99 FW. Thompson has been better after coming back from injury and you would think that he is going to eventually start putting points in bunches. Because of how bad Thompson's statline is this season. it would be a good idea to trade for him because you may not have to give up a lot in return.  Elias Lindholm Elias Lindholm is another player who has had a slow start to the season with only 7 goals, 10 assists, 3 PPP, 68 SOG, and 297 FW so far this season. Lindholm is definitely going to want to play better if he wants to increase his value for his next contract and also showcase himself for a trade at the deadline. If Lindholm gets dealt to a contending team, his fantasy value would drastically improve b

TIPS FOR DECIDING WHO TO KEEP FOR KEEPER/DYNASTY LEAGUES

Keeper fantasy leagues are a variation of traditional fantasy sports leagues where participants are allowed to keep a certain number of players from their previous season's roster onto their team for the upcoming season. The number of players that can be kept, as well as the specific rules regarding keeping players, vary from league to league and are typically determined by the league commissioner or by a set of agreed-upon rules among league members. In a keeper league, the kept players usually come with a cost, such as forfeiting a specific draft pick in the upcoming draft or having to pay a predetermined fee. This adds a strategic element to the game, as managers must decide which players to keep based on their performance, potential, and value relative to the cost of keeping them. Keeper leagues often provide a deeper level of engagement and strategy compared to standard fantasy leagues because managers need to consider long-term player development and roster management beyond

FANTASY HOCKEY WAIVER WIRE PLAYERS TO PICKUP

Here are some players you should pickup in Fantasy Hockey, sorted by position. Center Colton Sissons Colton Sissons is one of the best 4th line centers in the league, but in fantasy hockey, he could be even more valuable than he actually is in real life because of what he provides in the peripheral categories. So far this season Sissions has 5 goals, 1 PPP, 1 SHP, 12 PIM, 20 SOG, 89 FW, 15 hits, and 9 blocks. This is a terrific stat line and although you can't count on Sissons scoring a ton, he will fill out the FW, Hits, and blocks usually. Sissons is owned in 6% of fantasy leagues, snag him up while you can. Nick Bjugstad Nick Bjugstad is having an excellent year so far with the Arizona Coyotes, in fact he has played so well that he earned himself a promotion to play on the 2nd line along with Mattias Maccelli and Lawson Crouse. Bjugstad also gets time on Arizona's 2nd PP unit and 2nd PK unit. Bjugstad may not be a name who stands out to casuals, but his fantasy stat line is
