What Edmonton Oilers should do in Free Agency

The Edmonton Oilers must improve their team in free agency if they are to be a legit contender in the Western Conference. These are the moves the Edmonton Oilers should make in free agency.

Before the Free Agency period, they need to first move some players that might be exposed for the expansion draft.

One of the players that could be in danger of being drafted by Seattle is Adam Larsson, who also happens to be a UFA. Adam Larsson is too important to the Oilers for them to lose him for nothing in the expansion draft, so they should move him beforehand.

Edmonton Oilers trade Adam Larsson to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Alexandre Texier, 2nd round pick '22.

This is a trade that works out great for both teams because the Blue Jackets get a top 4 Right Handed defenseman, while the Oilers get a young forward in Alexandre Texier, who has top 6 potential and a 2nd round pick.

Edmonton Oilers lose Ethan Bear to the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft.

Before heading into free agency, they need to re-sign a few players, however, they will first need to clear some cap room.

Edmonton Oilers buyout James Neal; the Buyout will cost an annual cap hit of 1.9 million until 2025.

The Buyout saves the Oilers 3.85 million in cap space.

The Oilers also buy out Mikko Koskinen, the buyout will cost an annual cap hit of 1.5 million until 2023. The Buyout saves the Oilers 3 million in cap space

After the buyouts, the Oilers now have 18.38 million in cap space.

Edmonton Oilers have two key UFAs to re-sign: Tyson Barrie, and Slatter Koekkoek.

Tyler Ennis, Patrik Russell, Dmitry Kulikov, and are also UFAs but are not re-signed.

Mike Smith was also a UFA but is not brought back.

Edmonton also has a few RFAs to re-sign: Alexandre Texier, Kailer Yamamoto, Juhar Khaira.

Dominik Kahun is don't qualified.

Edmonton Oilers re-sign a few players:

Tyson Barrie-3yrs/5M per

Kailer Yamamoto-2yrs/2.5M per

Alexandre Texier-2yrs/1.75M per

Jujhar Khaira-3yrs/1.6M per

Slatter Koekkoek-1yr/850k

After re-signing these players, the Oilers need to sign a starting goalie.

The Oilers have 6.68 million in cap space left to sign a goalie, so they will need to make a trade to free up cap space.

The player they should trade is Kyle Turris because he is being paid 1.65 million but was basically as spare by the end of last season.

Edmonton Oilers trade Kyle Turris to the Buffalo Sabres for a 2021 6th round pick.

The Oilers free up 1.65 million in cap space, while the Sabres get a solid 4th line center in Kyle Turris.

After the Turris trade, the Edmonton Oilers have 8.33 million in cap space to spend on a starting goalie.

The Goalie that the Oilers should go after is Linus Ullmark; despite playing on the worst team in the league last season, he still put up a 9-6 record with a 2.63 GAA and .917 SV%.

Edmonton Oilers sign Linus Ullmark to a 5 yr deal worth 4 million per season in free agency; Linus Ullmark should help stabilize the goalie situation in goal.

Edmonton Oilers need to add some depth players to help out their roster.

Edmonton Oilers sign a few players in Free Agency:

Kevan Miller-2yr/1.3M per

Derrick Brassard-1yr/1M

Alex Galchenyuk-1yr/1M

Luke Schenn-1yr/700k

This is how the Edmonton Oilers look like after all the moves

2021-22 Edmonton Oilers

L.Draisaitl-C.McDavid-J.Puljujarvi

A.Galchenyuk-R.Nugent-Hopkins-K.Yamamoto

A.Texier-D.Holloway-Z.Kassian

J.Khaira-D.Brassard-J.Archibald

D.Nurse-T.Barrie

D.Keith-E.Bouchard

K.Russell-K.Miller

L.Ullmark

A.Stalock

Spares: R.McLeod, D.Shore, S.Koekkoek, L.Schenn

The Edmonton Oilers have assembled a much deeper team, and look poised to make a deeper playoff run.

Fantasy Hockey Forwards to Trade For

Here is a list of Players who you should consider trading for in Fantasy Hockey. Tage Thompson Tage Thompson had very high expectations of him heading into this season but has been a massive disappointment to this point in the season with only 7 goals, 8 assists, 4 PPP, 60 SOG, and 99 FW. Thompson has been better after coming back from injury and you would think that he is going to eventually start putting points in bunches. Because of how bad Thompson's statline is this season. it would be a good idea to trade for him because you may not have to give up a lot in return.  Elias Lindholm Elias Lindholm is another player who has had a slow start to the season with only 7 goals, 10 assists, 3 PPP, 68 SOG, and 297 FW so far this season. Lindholm is definitely going to want to play better if he wants to increase his value for his next contract and also showcase himself for a trade at the deadline. If Lindholm gets dealt to a contending team, his fantasy value would drastically improve b

TIPS FOR DECIDING WHO TO KEEP FOR KEEPER/DYNASTY LEAGUES

Keeper fantasy leagues are a variation of traditional fantasy sports leagues where participants are allowed to keep a certain number of players from their previous season's roster onto their team for the upcoming season. The number of players that can be kept, as well as the specific rules regarding keeping players, vary from league to league and are typically determined by the league commissioner or by a set of agreed-upon rules among league members. In a keeper league, the kept players usually come with a cost, such as forfeiting a specific draft pick in the upcoming draft or having to pay a predetermined fee. This adds a strategic element to the game, as managers must decide which players to keep based on their performance, potential, and value relative to the cost of keeping them. Keeper leagues often provide a deeper level of engagement and strategy compared to standard fantasy leagues because managers need to consider long-term player development and roster management beyond

FANTASY HOCKEY WAIVER WIRE PLAYERS TO PICKUP

Here are some players you should pickup in Fantasy Hockey, sorted by position. Center Colton Sissons Colton Sissons is one of the best 4th line centers in the league, but in fantasy hockey, he could be even more valuable than he actually is in real life because of what he provides in the peripheral categories. So far this season Sissions has 5 goals, 1 PPP, 1 SHP, 12 PIM, 20 SOG, 89 FW, 15 hits, and 9 blocks. This is a terrific stat line and although you can't count on Sissons scoring a ton, he will fill out the FW, Hits, and blocks usually. Sissons is owned in 6% of fantasy leagues, snag him up while you can. Nick Bjugstad Nick Bjugstad is having an excellent year so far with the Arizona Coyotes, in fact he has played so well that he earned himself a promotion to play on the 2nd line along with Mattias Maccelli and Lawson Crouse. Bjugstad also gets time on Arizona's 2nd PP unit and 2nd PK unit. Bjugstad may not be a name who stands out to casuals, but his fantasy stat line is
