How Buffalo Sabres can become a Dynasty

The Buffalo Sabres have the pieces in place to be the next dynasty in the NHL if they make the right trades and draft correctly in the next two years. While the process may take some time, it is not out of the possibility that the Sabres could become the NHL's next dynasty.

At the trade deadline, the Buffalo Sabres make a huge trade:

Buffalo Sabres trade Taylor Hall to the Winnipeg Jets for Nikolaj Ehlers, a conditional 2022 1st round pick. If Taylor Hall re-signs with the Winnipeg Jets, the Sabres get the Jets 2022 1st round pick.

This is a straight one-for-one swap of Hall for Ehlers; the Sabres get a 1st round pick if Hall re-signs with the Winnipeg Jets.

Buffalo Sabres miss the playoffs in the 2020-21 season and end up with the 10th pick in the draft.

The Buffalo Sabres lose Cody Eakin in the Expansion draft to the Seattle Kraken.

Buffalo Sabres buyout Kyle Okposo; the buyout will cost them 1 million per season until 2025.

Before the 2021 draft, the Buffalo Sabres make two huge trade:

The Buffalo Sabres trade Eric Staal, Colin Miller, a 2021 2nd round pick to the Carolina Hurricanes for Jake Gardiner, a 2021 3rd round pick.

The Sabres get Jake Gardiner, a solid 3rd pair defenseman and a 3rd round pick, while the Hurricanes get Eric Staal, a top 6 center, Colin Miller, and a 2nd round pick.

Rasmus Ristolainen is traded to the Arizona Coyotes for Cameron Crotty, 2021 2nd round pick.

The Coyotes get a top 4 defenseman in Rasmus Ristolainen, while the Sabres get Cameron Crotty, a solid defensive prospect, and a 2nd round pick.

2021 draft

10-Jesper Wallstedt

45-Graham Sward

Jesper Wallstedt will be their goalie of the future, and Graham Sward could be a top 4 defenseman.

Buffalo Sabres re-sign a few players:

Sam Reinhart-5yrs/5.7M per

Rasmus Dahlin-3yrs/5M per

Brandon Montour-3yrs/4.25M per

Linus Ullmark-3yrs/3.5M per

Henri Jokiharju-2yrs/1.75M per

Buffalo Sabres re-sign all other RFAs

Buffalo Sabres sign a few players:

Blake Coleman-3yrs/3.5M per

Jamie Oleksiak-3yrs/3M per

Buffalo Sabres miss the playoffs once again in the 2021-22 season and end up with the 9th pick in the draft.

Since the Winnipeg Jets re-signed Taylor Hall, the Sabres will get their 2022 1st round pick.

2022 Draft

9-Simon Nemec

16-Cruz Lucius

The Buffalo Sabres get Simon Nemec and Cruz Lucius, two blue-chip prospects that can be a huge part of their core.

Buffalo Sabres re-sign two key players:

Victor Olofsson-6yrs/5.5M per

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen-2yrs/2.75M per

Buffalo Sabres re-sign all other RFAs

Buffalo Sabres sign a few players:

Reilly Smith-6yrs/5.2M per

Chris Tierney-4yrs/3.75M per

Buffalo Sabres make the playoffs in the 2022-23 season but get eliminated in the first round.

Before the 2023 draft, the Buffalo Sabres make three huge trades:

Buffalo Sabres trade Jeff Skinner, Linus Ulmark, a 2023 1st round pick to the Detroit Red Wings for Michael Rasmussen, a 2023 2nd round pick.

This is a cap dump, which frees up 7.3 million in cap space for the Sabres to sign some useful players.

The Sabres acquire Cal Foote from the Tampa Bay Lightning for Henri Jokiharju.

This is a straight-up one to one swap; Jokiharju fits the Lightning better than Foote does, while Foote is a better fit for the Sabres.

Sam Reinhart is traded to the New Jersey Devils for a 2023 1st round pick.

Sam Reinhart is no longer with Cruz Lucius ready for a full-time role, so the Sabres can trade him to get a 1st round pick.

2023 draft

10-Arttu Karki

The Sabres add Arttu Karki, a two-way defenseman, who will be a staple on their defense for years to come.

Buffalo Sabres re-sign a few players:

Dylan Cozens-8yrs/6M per

Jack Quinn-6yrs/5.75M per

Tage Thompson-4yrs/2.75M per

Buffalo Sabres re-sign all other RFAs

Buffalo Sabres sign Connor Brown to a 3 yr deal worth 3.5 million per season.

By the 2023-24 season, the Buffalo Sabres have put together a contending team that has the potential to be a dynasty.

2023-24 Buffalo Sabres

V.Olofsson-J.Eichel-R.Smith

N.Ehlers-D.Cozens-J.Quinn

B.Coleman-C.Tierney-Cr.Lucius

M.Rasmussen-C.Mittelstadt-T.Thompson

R.Dahlin-S.Nemec

G.Sward-C.Foote

J.Oleksiak-C.Crotty

J.Wallstedt

U-P.Luukkonen

Top Prospects: A.Karki

The Buffalo Sabres have now are now legitimate contenders and could be the next dynasty in the league.

Fantasy Hockey Forwards to Trade For

Here is a list of Players who you should consider trading for in Fantasy Hockey. Tage Thompson Tage Thompson had very high expectations of him heading into this season but has been a massive disappointment to this point in the season with only 7 goals, 8 assists, 4 PPP, 60 SOG, and 99 FW. Thompson has been better after coming back from injury and you would think that he is going to eventually start putting points in bunches. Because of how bad Thompson's statline is this season. it would be a good idea to trade for him because you may not have to give up a lot in return.  Elias Lindholm Elias Lindholm is another player who has had a slow start to the season with only 7 goals, 10 assists, 3 PPP, 68 SOG, and 297 FW so far this season. Lindholm is definitely going to want to play better if he wants to increase his value for his next contract and also showcase himself for a trade at the deadline. If Lindholm gets dealt to a contending team, his fantasy value would drastically improve b

TIPS FOR DECIDING WHO TO KEEP FOR KEEPER/DYNASTY LEAGUES

Keeper fantasy leagues are a variation of traditional fantasy sports leagues where participants are allowed to keep a certain number of players from their previous season's roster onto their team for the upcoming season. The number of players that can be kept, as well as the specific rules regarding keeping players, vary from league to league and are typically determined by the league commissioner or by a set of agreed-upon rules among league members. In a keeper league, the kept players usually come with a cost, such as forfeiting a specific draft pick in the upcoming draft or having to pay a predetermined fee. This adds a strategic element to the game, as managers must decide which players to keep based on their performance, potential, and value relative to the cost of keeping them. Keeper leagues often provide a deeper level of engagement and strategy compared to standard fantasy leagues because managers need to consider long-term player development and roster management beyond

FANTASY HOCKEY WAIVER WIRE PLAYERS TO PICKUP

Here are some players you should pickup in Fantasy Hockey, sorted by position. Center Colton Sissons Colton Sissons is one of the best 4th line centers in the league, but in fantasy hockey, he could be even more valuable than he actually is in real life because of what he provides in the peripheral categories. So far this season Sissions has 5 goals, 1 PPP, 1 SHP, 12 PIM, 20 SOG, 89 FW, 15 hits, and 9 blocks. This is a terrific stat line and although you can't count on Sissons scoring a ton, he will fill out the FW, Hits, and blocks usually. Sissons is owned in 6% of fantasy leagues, snag him up while you can. Nick Bjugstad Nick Bjugstad is having an excellent year so far with the Arizona Coyotes, in fact he has played so well that he earned himself a promotion to play on the 2nd line along with Mattias Maccelli and Lawson Crouse. Bjugstad also gets time on Arizona's 2nd PP unit and 2nd PK unit. Bjugstad may not be a name who stands out to casuals, but his fantasy stat line is
