WHAT IF TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS SIGN ALEX PIETRANGELO

Alex Pietrangelo is one of the top free agents in 2020 and the Toronto Maple Leafs would really love to add a defenseman of his caliber, especially because he would be the perfect defenseman to pair with Morgan Rielly on the 1st pair. However, if the Maple Leafs are to sign Alex Pietrangelo, they need to clear more cap space because the Leafs only have a little over 6 million in cap space this year.

Before free agency, a few trades are made:

Toronto Maple Leafs trade Andreas Johnsson, Travis Dermott to the Detroit Red Wings for Tiro Hirose, Joe Hicketts, 2nd round pick 2021.

The Red Wings get a top 6 forward in Andreas Johnsson and a top 4 defenseman in Travis Dermott, while the Maple Leafs get a top 9 forward in Tiro Hirose, a top 6 defenseman in Joe Hicketts and a 2nd round pick.

Maple Leafs also trade William Nylander, Timothy Liljegren to the Vancouver Canucks for Tyler Toffoli, Tanner Pearson, 1st round pick 2021.

Vancouver Canucks get a dynamic top 6 forward in William Nylander to add to their terrific core and a young top 4 defenseman with potential in Timothy Liljegren, while Toronto gets Tyler Toffoli and Pearson, two top 6 forwards and a 1st round pick.

Frederik Andersen is traded to the Chicago Blackhawks for Dylan Strome, 2nd round pick 2021.

If the Blackhawks make the playoffs, the 2nd round pick becomes a 1st round pick. Chicago Blackhawks get a number 1 goalie in Fredrik Andersen, while the Maple Leafs get a 2nd line center in Dylan Strome.

Toronto Maple Leafs acquire Darcy Kuemper from the Arizona Coyotes for Nikolay Goldobin, Ilya Mikheyev, 2nd round pick 2021.

The Maple Leafs get a stud goaltender in Darcy Kuemper, while the Coyotes get two talented young players in Goldobin and Mikheyev and a 2nd round pick.

Toronto Maple Leafs re-sign Tyler Toffoli to a 4 yr deal worth 5 million per season, Dylan Strome is re-signed to a 2 yr deal worth 3.5 million per season

Evan Rodrigues, Denis Malgin, Frederik Gauthier are re-signed to 2 yr deals and Tiro Hirose is re-signed to a 1 yr deal.

In Free Agency, Toronto Maple Leafs sign Alex Pietrangelo to a 7 yr deal worth 8 million per season.

With the additions of Pietrangelo, Toffoli, Strome and Kuemper, the Toronto Maple Leafs coast through the regular season only to be beat by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 6 games.

The Toronto Maple Leafs lose Alex Kerfoot in the expansion draft in the expansion draft.

Before the 2021 draft, Toronto Maple Leafs trade Tanner Pearson, Justin Holl to the Florida Panthers for Serron Noel, Cole Schwindt.

Florida Panthers get a top 6 forward in Tanner Pearson and a top 6 defenseman in Justin Holl, while the Maple Leafs get a big power forward in Serron Noel and a good defensive forward in Cole Schwindt.

At the 2021 draft, Toronto Maple Leafs trade picks 43, 54, 56 to the LA Kings for picks 39, 58, 71

2021 Draft results:

18 (from VAN)-Isaac Belliveau

24-Fransesco Pinelli

39 (from LA)-Sasha Pastujov

58 (from LA)-Tristan Lennox

The Toronto Maple Leafs draft 4 real solid prospects that will help the team out in the future; Isaac Belliveau is a great puck moving top 4 defenseman, Francesco Pinelli is a solid two way center, Sasha Pastujov is a dynamic playmaking winger and Tritian Lennox is a big prospect goalie that has starter potential.

Toronto Maple Leafs re-sign Zach Hyman to a 5 yr deal worth 3.75 million per season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs finish the 2021-22 season with the best record in the Eastern Conference but get bounce in the second round round once again.

Before the 2022 draft, two major trades

Toronto Maple Leafs trade Mitch Marner, Jake Muzzin to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Cam Atkinson, Alexandre Texier, David Savard, 1st round pick 2023.

The Blue Jackets get a star forward in Mitch Marner and a top 4 defenseman in Jake Muzzin,  while the Maple Leafs get two top 6 forwards in Atkinson and Texier, a top 4 defenseman in David Savard and a 1st round pick.

Dylan Strome is traded to the Edmonton Oilers for Zack Kassian, Dmitry Samorukov, 1st round pick 2024.

The Oilers get a very talented forward in Dylan Strome that they can play either with McDavid or as the 3rd line center; the Leafs on the other hand get a veteran power forward in Zack Kassian, a prospect defenseman in Dmitry Samorukov and a 1st round pick.

Toronto Maple Leafs re-sign Morgan Reilly to a 8 yr deal worth 6.75 million per season.

David Savard is re-signed to a 6 yr deal worth 4.5 million per season, Alexandre Texier is re-signed to a 4 yr deal worth 3.5 million per season.

Rasmus Sandin 3 yr deal worth 3.5 million per season and Pierre Engvall is signed to a 3 yr deal.

Toronto Maple Leafs sign Elvis Merzlikins to a 4 yr deal worth 4.5 million per season; Jay Beagle is signed to a 1 yr deal worth 1 million.

The Toronto Maple Leafs finally break through in the 2022-23 season but lose in the Stanley Cup Finals to the Colorado Avalanche.

By the 2023-24 season, the Toronto Maple Leafs have a legit contender that looks like this:

2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs

Z.Hyman-A.Matthews-C.Atkinson

A.Texier-J.Tavares-T.Toffoli

S.Pastujov-F.Pinelli-Z.Kassian

P.Engvall-C.Schwindt-S.Noel

M.Rielly-A.Pietrangelo

R.Sandin-D.Savard

D.Samorukov-I.Belliveau

E.Merzlikins

T.Lennox

The Toronto Maple Leafs have build a very solid team that has a depth at all positions and they would be a huge threat in the Eastern Conference for years to come.

Fantasy Hockey Forwards to Trade For

Here is a list of Players who you should consider trading for in Fantasy Hockey. Tage Thompson Tage Thompson had very high expectations of him heading into this season but has been a massive disappointment to this point in the season with only 7 goals, 8 assists, 4 PPP, 60 SOG, and 99 FW. Thompson has been better after coming back from injury and you would think that he is going to eventually start putting points in bunches. Because of how bad Thompson's statline is this season. it would be a good idea to trade for him because you may not have to give up a lot in return.  Elias Lindholm Elias Lindholm is another player who has had a slow start to the season with only 7 goals, 10 assists, 3 PPP, 68 SOG, and 297 FW so far this season. Lindholm is definitely going to want to play better if he wants to increase his value for his next contract and also showcase himself for a trade at the deadline. If Lindholm gets dealt to a contending team, his fantasy value would drastically improve b

TIPS FOR DECIDING WHO TO KEEP FOR KEEPER/DYNASTY LEAGUES

Keeper fantasy leagues are a variation of traditional fantasy sports leagues where participants are allowed to keep a certain number of players from their previous season's roster onto their team for the upcoming season. The number of players that can be kept, as well as the specific rules regarding keeping players, vary from league to league and are typically determined by the league commissioner or by a set of agreed-upon rules among league members. In a keeper league, the kept players usually come with a cost, such as forfeiting a specific draft pick in the upcoming draft or having to pay a predetermined fee. This adds a strategic element to the game, as managers must decide which players to keep based on their performance, potential, and value relative to the cost of keeping them. Keeper leagues often provide a deeper level of engagement and strategy compared to standard fantasy leagues because managers need to consider long-term player development and roster management beyond

FANTASY HOCKEY WAIVER WIRE PLAYERS TO PICKUP

Here are some players you should pickup in Fantasy Hockey, sorted by position. Center Colton Sissons Colton Sissons is one of the best 4th line centers in the league, but in fantasy hockey, he could be even more valuable than he actually is in real life because of what he provides in the peripheral categories. So far this season Sissions has 5 goals, 1 PPP, 1 SHP, 12 PIM, 20 SOG, 89 FW, 15 hits, and 9 blocks. This is a terrific stat line and although you can't count on Sissons scoring a ton, he will fill out the FW, Hits, and blocks usually. Sissons is owned in 6% of fantasy leagues, snag him up while you can. Nick Bjugstad Nick Bjugstad is having an excellent year so far with the Arizona Coyotes, in fact he has played so well that he earned himself a promotion to play on the 2nd line along with Mattias Maccelli and Lawson Crouse. Bjugstad also gets time on Arizona's 2nd PP unit and 2nd PK unit. Bjugstad may not be a name who stands out to casuals, but his fantasy stat line is
