WHAT IF SAN JOSE SHARKS DO A FULL REBUILD

The San Jose Sharks aren't good enough to make the playoffs, yet are too good to be a lottery team when everyone is healthy, so I think the best thing for the Sharks to do is to do a full on rebuild.

This rebuild would see the Sharks trade everyone except for three players: Timo Meier, Tomas Hertl, Erik Karlsson.

Before the 2020 draft, the Sharks make a couple trades:

San Jose Sharks trade Evander Kane to the Florida Panthers for Frank Vatrano, Henrik Borgstrom, 2nd round pick 2020.

The Florida Panthers get a top 6 winger in Evander Kane, which is important because both Dadonov and Hoffman are UFA's, while the Sharks get a solid 3rd line winger in Frank Vatrano, a prospect center in Henrik Borgstrom and a 2nd round pick.

The Sharks also trade Brent Burns to the Ottawa Senators for Alex Formenton, Logan Brown, Artem Zub, 1st round pick 2020.

The Ottawa Senators get a star defenseman in Brent Burns, which really bolsters their blueline, while the Sharks get two top forward prospects in Formenton and Brown, a mid level defensive prospect in Artem Zub and a 1st round pick.

Logan Couture is traded to the Montreal Canadiens for Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Max Domi, Victor Mete, 1st round pick 2022.

The Montreal Canadiens get the number 1 center that they have been looking for in Logan Couture, while the Sharks get 3 really solid players in Kotkaniemi, Domi and Mete as well as a future 1st round pick.

Marc Edouard Vlasic, Kevan Lebanc get dealt to the Colorado Avalanche for Ryan Graves, Valeri Nichushkin, 2nd round pick 2021. If the Avalanche reach the conference finals, the 2nd round pick becomes a 1st round pick.

Marc Edouard Vlasic had a down year but he still has value, if he is being used in the right situation; he would be the ideal d partner for Cale Makar. On the other hand, the Sharks get a very underrated defenseman in Ryan Graves, a solid top 9 forward in Valeri Nichushkin, and a 2nd round pick which could become a 1st round pick.

2020 Draft results:

28 (from OTT)-William Wallinder

31-Ryan O'Rourke

34-Lukas Reichel

43-William Dufour

54-Luke Evangelista

The San Jose Sharks draft two top notch defenseman in Wallinder and O'Rourke and three really solid forwards in Reichel, Dufour and Evangelista.

San Jose Sharks re-sign Max Domi to a 3 yr deal worth 4.75 million per season

Ryan Graves is re-signed to a 5 yr deal worth 3.5 million per season

Aaron Dell is re-signed to a 3 yr deal worth 2.5 million per season

Sharks also re-sign Valeri Nichushkin to a 1 yr deal worth 2 million per season

Henrik Borgstrom, Victor Mete are re-signed to 2 yr deals worth 1.5 million per season

San Jose Sharks sign Evgenii Dadonov to a 3 yr deal worth 6.5 million per season.

All other RFAs are re-signed by the Sharks

The San Jose Sharks finish the 2020-21 season with the 3rd worst record in the league but end up sliding down to the 5th pick in the draft.

The Sharks lose Victor Mete to the Seattle Kraken in the Expansion draft.

Colorado made the conference finals in the 2020-21 season, which means that San Jose gets their 1st round in 2021.

At the 2021, San Jose Sharks trade pick 31 to the Ottawa Senators for picks 38, 51.

2021 draft results:

5-Matthew Beniers

38 (from OTT)-Sebastian Cossa

51 (from OTT)-Jake Chiasson

The Sharks draft a stud center in Matthew Beniers, their future starter in Sebastian Cossa and a solid scorer in Jake Chiasson.

San Jose Sharks re-sign Jesperi Kotkaniemi to a 3 yr deal worth 4.5 million per season

Artem Zub is re-signed to a 2 yr deal worth 2.75 million per season

All other RFAs are re-signed by the Sharks

The San Jose Sharks sign Scott Laughton to a 3 yr deal worth 2.5 million per season.

The San Jose Sharks finish the 2021-22 season with a much better record but they still miss the playoffs; the Sharks end up with the 12th pick in the draft.

2022 draft results:

8 (from MTL)-Frank Nazar

12-Issac Howard

The Sharks add to their stacked prospect pool by draft two top prospects in Frank Nazar and Issac Howard, two dynamic high end point producers.

After the draft, one trade is made:

San Jose Sharks trade Max Domi, Logan Brown to the Dallas Stars for Riley Tufte, Jason Dickinson, 1st round pick 2023.

The Stars get two very good forwards in Domi and Brown, while the Sharks get two bottom 6 forwards in Tufte and Dickinson and a 1st round pick.

Ryan Merkley to a 6 yr deal worth 5.2 million per season

San Jose Sharks re-sign Tomas Hertl to a 6 yr deal worth 6 million per season

The Sharks also re-sign Alex Formenton to a 4 yr deal worth 3 million per season

Henrik Borgstrom is re-signed to a 3 yr deal worth 2 million per season

Jason Dickinson, Riley Tufte are re-signed to 2 yr deals

All other RFAs are re-signed by the Sharks

The San Jose Sharks make the playoffs in the 2022-23 season but lose in the second round of the playoffs.

Before the 2023 draft, one trade is made:

San Jose Sharks trade Martin Jones to the Calgary Flames for 2nd round pick 2023, 3rd round pick 2023.

This is a win-win trade for both teams because this trade opens up the starting job for Sebastian Cossa on the Sharks and Martin Jones would be going to Calgary team that really needs a starting goalie.

At the 2023 draft, the Sharks trade picks 20, 26, 42 to the Florida Panthers for pick 8.

2023 draft results:

8 (from FLA) Colby Barlow

The San Jose Sharks yet another impact forward in Colby Barlow, which makes them very dangerous down the road.

San Jose Sharks re-sign Artem Zub to a 4 yr deal worth 3.25 million per season.

By the 2023-24 season, the San Jose Sharks have put together quite an impressive roster:

2023-24 San Jose Sharks:

I.Howard-J.Kotkaniemi-T.Meier

A.Formenton-M.Beniers-F.Nazar

L.Reichel-T.Hertl-W.Dufour

S.Laughton-H.Borgstrom-J.Dickinson

R.O'Rourke-E.Karlsson

W.Wallinder-R.Merkley

R.Graves-A.Zub

S.Cossa

A.Dell

Top Prospects:

C.Barlow, L.Evangelista, J.Chiasson, R.Tufte

The San Jose Sharks have now assembled a very good team that could compete for the Stanley cup in the next 2-3 years.

TIPS FOR DECIDING WHO TO KEEP FOR KEEPER/DYNASTY LEAGUES

Keeper fantasy leagues are a variation of traditional fantasy sports leagues where participants are allowed to keep a certain number of players from their previous season's roster onto their team for the upcoming season. The number of players that can be kept, as well as the specific rules regarding keeping players, vary from league to league and are typically determined by the league commissioner or by a set of agreed-upon rules among league members. In a keeper league, the kept players usually come with a cost, such as forfeiting a specific draft pick in the upcoming draft or having to pay a predetermined fee. This adds a strategic element to the game, as managers must decide which players to keep based on their performance, potential, and value relative to the cost of keeping them. Keeper leagues often provide a deeper level of engagement and strategy compared to standard fantasy leagues because managers need to consider long-term player development and roster management beyond ...

2024 Offseason Preview ft. New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils the playoffs in the 2023-24 season after making it into the second round of the playoffs last season, and finished the season with a total of 81 points, a 38-39-5 record; With Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier in the midst of their primes, the New Jersey Devils really need to start to buckle down and put together the pieces for a contending team. The good news is that the New Jersey Devils have the benefit of having the 10th overall pick, which they could move to acquire a netminder, and they also have plenty of cap space to add other players as well. This coming offseason is a big one for the New Jersey Devils front office because after striking out on a netminder last offseason, the pressure to acquire a netminder this offseason is immense for GM Tom Fitzgerald, who might be on the hotseat if he can't find a way to fix the mess. Before the 2024 NHL Draft, the New Jersey Devils make two major trades New Jersey Devils acquire Jacob Markstrom, Matthew Coronato, 1st...
