2023 STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS: CONFERENCE FINALS UPDATE

This is a Quick update on the Conference Finals Matchups in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Eastern Conference

Florida Panthers Sweep Carolina Hurricanes 4-0

Game 1 took an eternity before Matthew Tkachuk scored in the 4th OT to give the Patnhers a 1-0 lead in the series; Sergei Bobrovsky made 63 saves in the win.

Game 2 went to Overtime again, and resulted in yet another Matthew Tkachuk GWG, this time the goal was scored just 1:51 into overtime on the powerplay.

Sergei Bobrovsky was the story of game 3, as he made 32 saves to shutout Carolina, 1-0 to give the Florida Panthers a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.

With 4.9 seconds left in the 3rd period and Florida on the Man Advantage due to a Jordan Staal tripping penalty, Matthew Tkachuk scored his 3rd Game winning goal of series to send the Panthers on the the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Florida Panthers are back in the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1996, and they have had by far the toughest path to it having to go through Boston, Toronto and Carolina.

Western Conference

Vegas Golden Knights lead Dallas Stars 3-1

Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals went to Overtime before Brett Howden scored the Game Winning Goal 1:35 into OT; William Karlsson scored 2 Goals for Vegas and Roope Hintz had 3 points for Dallas.

The Dallas Stars led 2-1 the majority of the 3rd period but Jonathan Marchessault scored the tying goal late in the 3rd and Chandler Stephenson won it in OT just 1:12 into the overtime period; this put Vegas up 2-0 in the series.

Game 3 was a disaster for Dallas; they were blown out 4-0. Jake Oettinger was yanked and worst of all, Captain Jamie Benn was ejected early in the 1st period for an ill-advised Cross check to the head of Mark Stone.

With Jame Benn suspended for 2 games and Dallas pushed to the brink of elimination, Dallas won Game 4 in OT thanks to a Joe Pavelski game-winning goal.

Vegas still has a high win probability as they get to return home for Game 5 and are looking to Gentlemans sweep the Dallas Stars.
