What is Wrong with Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche haven't had a great start to the season, due to a combination of injuries and because they lost a few key players in the offseason. Let's discuss the issues with the Colorado Avalanche and how to fix them.

Issues with the Colorado Avalanche:

1. Loss of Philipp Grubauer, Brandon Saad, Ryan Graves

2. Injuries early in the season

3. Darcy Kuemper's slow start

4. Lack of Scoring Depth

5. Defense is too soft

The Colorado Avalanche lost a couple key players in the offseason, which is a major reason why they have gotten off to a mediocre start to the season.

Philipp Grubauer signed with the Seattle Kraken and Brandon Saad signed with the St.Louis Blues in Free Agency. Ryan Graves was traded to the New Jersey Devils for a 2021 2nd round pick. To replace Philipp Grubauer, the Avs went out and acquired Darcy Kuemper; Jack Johnson and Darren Helm were added in Free Agency.

Injuries played a big part in why Colorado has had a .500 record out of the gate, and while that is exactly terrible, it is surprising considering Colorado was expected to be one of the best teams in the league this year. Nathan MacKinnon missed the first 2 games of the season due to injury, and Gabriel Landeskog was suspended for 2 games. Cale Makar and Devon Toews are expected to miss time due to injury, as are Mikko Rantanen, Valeri Nischushkin, and Andre Burakovsky.

Darcy Kuemper had very high expectations heading into this season, but he has not lived up to those mighty expectations. In 7 starts, Kuemper has a 4-3 record with a 2.87 GAA and .904 SV%. In his defense, the defense in front of him wasn't great, but still, the Avalanche gave up quite a lot to get Kuemper, and he has been disappointing, to say the least.

The two major issues I see with this team is the lack of scoring depth and the defense is too soft; if Avalanche can address these two issues, they should be back to their winning ways.

Trades:

Colorado Avalanche trade Jack Johnson, Shane Bowers to the Montreal Canadiens for Ben Chiarot, Artturi Lehkonen.

The Avalanche improve their defense with the addition of Ben Chiarot and add more offensive depth with the addition of Artturi Lehkonen.

The Avs also trade Ryan Murray, Kieffer Sherwood to the Arizona Coyotes for Ilya Lyubushkin, Christian Fischer.

The Avalanche adds two physical players who will bring so physicality to the lineup in Lyubushkin and Fischer.

This is how the Lineup looks like after the trades:

G.Landeskog-N.MacKinnon-JT.Compher

A.Lehkonen-N.Kadri-M.Rantanen

M.Kaut-T.Jost-L.O'Connor

S.Ranta-D.Helm-C.Fischer

B.Byram-E.Johnson

B.Chiarot-S.Girard

K.MacDermaid-I.Lyubushkin

D.Kuemper

J.Johansson

(IR) C.Makar, D.Toews, A.Burakovsky, V.Nischuskin, P.Francouz

There are still many players out due to injury but the trades would allow the Avalanche to have a little more depth in the lineup til the injured players are ready to return.

Here are some tips to help you dominate your Fantasy Hockey Keeper Leagues. Number of Keepers and League Settings When deciding on keepers, it is very important to know how many keepers the league allows you to keep and the league scoring system, because there are players that work better in H2H CAT leagues as opposed to H2H leagues with standard scoring categories.  If you can only keep a few players, focus on those who provide the most value in your specific scoring format. Keep players who excel in categories that are heavily weighted in your league (e.g., power-play points, hits, blocks, faceoffs). If the league uses Rotisserie or Points settings, you will have to take that...

2024 Offseason Preview ft. New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils the playoffs in the 2023-24 season after making it into the second round of the playoffs last season, and finished the season with a total of 81 points, a 38-39-5 record; With Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier in the midst of their primes, the New Jersey Devils really need to start to buckle down and put together the pieces for a contending team. The good news is that the New Jersey Devils have the benefit of having the 10th overall pick, which they could move to acquire a netminder, and they also have plenty of cap space to add other players as well. This coming offseason is a big one for the New Jersey Devils front office because after striking out on a netminder last offseason, the pressure to acquire a netminder this offseason is immense for GM Tom Fitzgerald, who might be on the hotseat if he can't find a way to fix the mess. Before the 2024 NHL Draft, the New Jersey Devils make two major trades New Jersey Devils acquire Jacob Markstrom, Matthew Coronato, 1st...

2024 OFFSEASON PREVIEW VANCOUVER CANUCKS

The Vancouver Canucks' 2023-2024 season was a successful and surprising campaign because they were not expected to be major contenders initially, however, the Canucks exceeded expectations by winning their division and making a significant playoff run. Vancouver Canucks won the Pacific Divison title and managed to defeat Nashville in 7 games even though they were playing without Thatcher Demko and moved onto to play the Edmonton Oilers in the second round, but they would ultimately fall short in Game 7. After the success of last season, Vancouver should look to improve the team in the offseason, but they only have so much cap space to fill many holes on the roster. Vancouver Canucks buyout Ilya Mikheyev ; Buyout will leave a 1.55 million cap hit until 2028. A three-team trade is made between the Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins, and Carolina Hurricanes Vancouver Canucks get rights Jake Guentzel Boston Bruins get rights to Elias Lindholm  Carolina Hurricanes rights to Jake DeB...
