HOW OTTAWA SENATORS CAN WIN THEIR FIRST STANLEY CUP

The Ottawa Senators have never won a Stanley Cup since rejoining the NHL in 1993, but I think they have the pieces necessary to do so. Today, I will be trying to turn the Ottawa Senators into a Stanley Cup Contender and get them their first Stanley Cup victory.

Before the Expansion Draft, the Ottawa Senators make one major trade.

Ottawa Senators trade Evgenii Dadonov to the Seattle Kraken for a 2021 3rd round pick.

Evgenii Dadonov hasn't quite fit in with the Ottawa Senators, perhaps going to Seattle might revive his career a bit.

Ottawa Senators lose Derek Stepan to the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft.

Before the 2021 Draft, one trade is made:

Ottawa Senators trade Artem Anisimov, Ryan Dzingel to the Nashville Predators for Nick Cousins, Rocco Grimaldi.

The Predators improve their depth on offense with the additions of Anisimov and Dzingel, while the Senators add some decent role players in Cousins and Grimaldi.

The Ottawa Senators finished the 2020-21 season with the 4th worst record in the league, but end up with the 5th pick in the draft.

At the 2021 draft, the Ottawa Senators trade picks 37, 69 to the Vegas Golden Knights for pick 30.

The Senators also trade picks 38 to the New Jersey Devils for picks 52, 71.

2021 Draft

5-Brandt Clarke

30-Nikita Chibrikov

52-Aidan Hreschuk

67-Cameron MacDonald

71-Fyodor Svechkov

The Ottawa Senators Draft Brandt Clarke and Aidan Hreschuk, two terrific defensive prospects, and three good forward prospects as well.

After the 2021 draft, one trade is made:

Ottawa Senators trade Logan Brown, Vitaly Abramov, 2nd rd pick '22 to the Buffalo Sabres for Sam Reinhart.

The Senators get Sam Reinhart, a player who was once highly touted but has been a bit of a disappointment for the Sabres; he will get a much-needed change in scenery.

Ottawa Senators re-sign a few players:

Brady Tkachuk-6yrs/6M per

Drake Batherson-3yrs/3.75M per

Artem Zub-3yrs/3M per

Victor Mete-1yr/1M per

Magnus Hogberg-2yrs deal

The Ottawa Senators re-sign All other RFAs.

Ottawa Senators sign Sam Reinhart to a 4 yr deal worth 5.5 million per season, Nick Foligno to a 3 yr deal worth 5 million per season.

The Ottawa Senators have a slightly better record in the 2021-22 season, and end up with the 6th pick in the draft.

Ottawa wins the draft lottery and ends up landing the 1st overall pick in the 2022 draft.

2022 draft

1-Shane Wright

16-Ivan Miroshichenko

31-Marco Kasper

38-Simon Forsmark

40-Ludwig Persson

The Senators strike gold in the 2022 draft, landing Shane Wright and Ivan Miroshichenko, as well as Marco Kasper, Simon Forsmark, and Ludwig Persson.

After the 2022 draft, the Ottawa Senators make a major trade:

Ottawa Senators trade Alex Formenton, Erik Brannstrom, Sam Reinhart, 2023 1st round pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Patrik Laine, Boone Jenner.

This is a good trade for both teams because the Senators get a goal Patrik Laine and Boone Jenner, while the Blue Jackets get Chris Tierney, Erik Brannstrom, and Alex Formenton, and a 1st round pick.

Ottawa Senators re-sign a few players:

Josh Norris-6yrs/6.25M per

Boone Jenner-4yrs/3.6M per

Nic Paul-3yrs/2.2M per

The Ottawa Senators re-sign All other RFAs.

The Ottawa Senators just miss out on the playoffs in the 2022-23 season and end up with the 14th pick in the draft.

Before the 2023 draft, one trade is made:

Ottawa Senators trade Nikita Zaitsev, Connor Brown to the Philadelphia Flyers for 2023 3rd rd pick, 2024 6th round pick.

This trade is a straight cap dump to get rid of Nikita Zaitsev's contract.

2023 Draft

14-Ondrej Molnar

The Ottawa Senators draft Ondrej Molnar, a talented goal-scoring winger out of Slovakia.

After the 2023 draft, one trade is made:

Ottawa Senators acquire Spencer Knight from the Florida Panthers for Aidan Hreschuk, Marco Kasper, Nic Paul, 2024 1st round pick.

The Senators get Spencer Knight from the Florida Panthers to be their goalie of the future.

Ottawa Senators re-sign a few players:

Patrik Laine-6yrs/7.5M per

Tim Stutzle-6yrs/5.5M per

Spencer Knight-5yrs/4.5M per

Jake Sanderson-6yrs/4.25M per

Jacob Bernard-Docker-4yrs/3.6M per

Simon Forsmark-2yrs/2.5M per

Joey Daccord-2yrs/1.5M per

The Ottawa Senators re-sign All other RFAs.

The Ottawa Senators cruise to a presidents' trophy in the 2023-24 season, and their first-ever Stanley Cup.

By the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators have put together a frightening team.

2024-25 Ottawa Senators

T.Stutzle-S.Wright-D.Batherson

B.Tkachuk-J.Norris-P.Laine

I.Miroshichenko-F.Svechkov-C.White

R.Greig-B.Jenner-S.Pinto

J.Sanderson-B.Clarke

T.Chabot-A.Zub

S.Forsmark-J.Bernard-Docker

S.Knight

J.Daccord

Top Prospects: O.Molnar, L.Persson, C.MacDonald, N.Chibrikov

The Ottawa Senators have now built a young and dominant team that looks like the NHL's next dynasty.

FANTASY HOCKEY WAIVER WIRE PLAYERS TO PICKUP

C Sean Couturier -After missing 2+ years, Sean Couturier is back and it seems like he hasn't missed a beat. Believe it or not, Couturier has been one of the top centers in the league so far with his all-around play, putting up 2 goals, 3 assists, 2 PPP, 63 FW, 24 SOG, and 1 SHP. Despite showing that he is still an elite center, Couturier is only owned in 20% of fantasy leagues. Pick him up now, while you still can. Ryan Johansen - Serves as the Avalanche's 2nd line center and plays on their all-world 1st pp unit. Despite not being the player he used to be, Johansen is still a valuable fantasy asset because of the players he plays with. Johansen has 4 goals and 4 PPPs along with 63 FW so far this season. He is owned in 29% of fantasy leagues. Sean Monahan - Someone must have gotten a time machine and put Sean Monahan in it because he is playing like he was back when he was in his prime. Monahan has been arguably the best player on Montreal this year, with 3 goals, 6 points, 2 PP

FANTASY HOCKEY WAIVER WIRE PLAYERS TO PICKUP

Here are some players you should pickup in Fantasy Hockey, sorted by position. Center Colton Sissons Colton Sissons is one of the best 4th line centers in the league, but in fantasy hockey, he could be even more valuable than he actually is in real life because of what he provides in the peripheral categories. So far this season Sissions has 5 goals, 1 PPP, 1 SHP, 12 PIM, 20 SOG, 89 FW, 15 hits, and 9 blocks. This is a terrific stat line and although you can't count on Sissons scoring a ton, he will fill out the FW, Hits, and blocks usually. Sissons is owned in 6% of fantasy leagues, snag him up while you can. Nick Bjugstad Nick Bjugstad is having an excellent year so far with the Arizona Coyotes, in fact he has played so well that he earned himself a promotion to play on the 2nd line along with Mattias Maccelli and Lawson Crouse. Bjugstad also gets time on Arizona's 2nd PP unit and 2nd PK unit. Bjugstad may not be a name who stands out to casuals, but his fantasy stat line is

Fantasy Hockey Forwards to Trade For

Here is a list of Players who you should consider trading for in Fantasy Hockey. Tage Thompson Tage Thompson had very high expectations of him heading into this season but has been a massive disappointment to this point in the season with only 7 goals, 8 assists, 4 PPP, 60 SOG, and 99 FW. Thompson has been better after coming back from injury and you would think that he is going to eventually start putting points in bunches. Because of how bad Thompson's statline is this season. it would be a good idea to trade for him because you may not have to give up a lot in return.  Elias Lindholm Elias Lindholm is another player who has had a slow start to the season with only 7 goals, 10 assists, 3 PPP, 68 SOG, and 297 FW so far this season. Lindholm is definitely going to want to play better if he wants to increase his value for his next contract and also showcase himself for a trade at the deadline. If Lindholm gets dealt to a contending team, his fantasy value would drastically improve b
