How Detroit Red Wings can Become Contenders

The Detroit Red Wings have had a terrific start to the season with a 4-2 record, thanks to the arrival of young studs such as Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider, who have added lots of skill and talent to the lineup.

Detroit Red Wings Offseason Moves:

1. Traded for and Re-signed Alex Nedeljkovic

2. Traded for Nick Leddy

3. Signed Pius Suter, Jordan Oesterle

4. Re-signed Jakub Vrana, Filip Hronek

5. Re-signed Marc Staal, Michael Rasmussen, Adam Erne

Offseason Review:

The biggest weakness for the Detroit Red Wings was goaltending, so they went out and traded for Alex Nedeljkovic, who was in a contract dispute with the Carolina Hurricanes. Then subsequently, re-signed Nedeljkovic to a 2 yr deal worth 3.5 million per season. Nedeljkovic will tandem with Thomas Greiss and should form a solid tandem in net.

The Red Wings also acquired Nick Leddy from the New York Islanders. This trade helps the Red Wings take that next step forward, as Leddy is an veteran defenseman, with playoff experience, and he should help mentor the young defenseman in Detroit.

Heading into the season, the Red Wings needed to add a 2nd line center, and they were able to find one in Pius Suter. Detroit signed Pius Suter to a 2 yr deal worth 3.25 million per season. Besides adding Pius Suter, the Red Wings also signed Jordan Oesterle to a 2 yr deal worth 1.35 million per season. Oesterle will be a solid 6th or 7th defenseman for the Red Wings.

After a bit of a contract dispute, the Detroit Red Wings agreed on a 4 yr extension worth 5.25 million per season with Jakub Vrana. Jakub Vrana is an ultra-talented winger, but can struggle at times with his consistency; regardless, he should be a big part of the core. Filip Hronek was re-signed to a 3 yr deal worth 4.4 million per season. Hronek is already a good top 4 defenseman, and will only improve.

Besides Vrana and Hronek, the Red Wings also re-signed veteran defenseman, Marc Staal, Michael Rasmussen, and Adam Erne. Marc Staal is still a solid veteran Defenseman, and both Rasmussen and Erne will be an important part of their depth.

The Detroit Red Wings should make a trade to improve the team:

Detroit Red Wings trade Vladislav Namestnikov, Sam Gagner, 2022 3rd round pick to the Seattle Kraken for Calle Jarnkrok, Mason Appleton.

Calle Jarnkrok and Mason Appleton will help strengthen the depth on the Red Wings, while Seattle get two players to fill out the lineup and a 3rd round pick.

This is how the Red Wings lineup looks like after the trade:

Ty.Bertuzzi-D.Larkin-L.Raymond

R.Fabbri-P.Suter-F.Zadina

C.Jarnkrok-M.Rasmussen-M.Appleton

C.Rowney-M.Stephens-A.Erne

D.DeKeyser-M.Seider

N.Leddy-F.Hronek

M.Staal-T.Stetcher

A.Nedeljkovic

T.Greiss

(IR) J.Vrana

The Detroit Red Wings could definitely make the playoffs with the additions of Jarnkrok and Appleton, and the development of young stars.

Number of Keepers and League Settings When deciding on keepers, it is very important to know how many keepers the league allows you to keep and the league scoring system, because there are players that work better in H2H CAT leagues as opposed to H2H leagues with standard scoring categories.  If you can only keep a few players, focus on those who provide the most value in your specific scoring format. Keep players who excel in categories that are heavily weighted in your league (e.g., power-play points, hits, blocks, faceoffs). If the league uses Rotisserie or Points settings, you will have to take that...

2024 Offseason Preview ft. New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils the playoffs in the 2023-24 season after making it into the second round of the playoffs last season, and finished the season with a total of 81 points, a 38-39-5 record; With Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier in the midst of their primes, the New Jersey Devils really need to start to buckle down and put together the pieces for a contending team. The good news is that the New Jersey Devils have the benefit of having the 10th overall pick, which they could move to acquire a netminder, and they also have plenty of cap space to add other players as well. This coming offseason is a big one for the New Jersey Devils front office because after striking out on a netminder last offseason, the pressure to acquire a netminder this offseason is immense for GM Tom Fitzgerald, who might be on the hotseat if he can't find a way to fix the mess. Before the 2024 NHL Draft, the New Jersey Devils make two major trades New Jersey Devils acquire Jacob Markstrom, Matthew Coronato, 1st...

2024 OFFSEASON PREVIEW VANCOUVER CANUCKS

The Vancouver Canucks' 2023-2024 season was a successful and surprising campaign because they were not expected to be major contenders initially, however, the Canucks exceeded expectations by winning their division and making a significant playoff run. Vancouver Canucks won the Pacific Divison title and managed to defeat Nashville in 7 games even though they were playing without Thatcher Demko and moved onto to play the Edmonton Oilers in the second round, but they would ultimately fall short in Game 7. After the success of last season, Vancouver should look to improve the team in the offseason, but they only have so much cap space to fill many holes on the roster. Vancouver Canucks buyout Ilya Mikheyev ; Buyout will leave a 1.55 million cap hit until 2028.
